Worldwatch President to Address Business Leaders, Policy Makers at Renewable Energy Conference at U.S. Capitol
Flavin to Discuss Political and Economic Conditions Needed to Make Renewables Cost-Competitive and Effective at Securing a Safer, Cleaner U.S. Energy Future
 

WASHINGTON - November 27 - On Thursday, November 30, Worldwatch President Christopher Flavin will join New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-Montana ), BP Chief Executive of Alternative Energy Adrienne Cox, and other renewable energy experts for Renewable Energy in America: Phase II Market Forecasts and Policy Requirements, a conference hosted by the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and the Renewable Energy Caucuses of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The full-day conference will take place at the Cannon House Office Building in Washington, D.C., and Flavin will speak at 3:30 p.m.

Based on data from the recently released Worldwatch report, American Energy: The Renewable Path to Energy Security, Flavin will present a roadmap for how renewable energy can wean the U nited States off its addiction to fossil fuels and provide a more secure, prosperous, and sustainable energy future. Flavin will present policy recommendations on how to advance current wind, solar, biofuel, and other renewable technologies and develop the capacity necessary for the United States to become competitive in a rapidly expanding international marketplace.
