State of Opportunity in America Report to be Released February 7
 

WASHINGTON - January 30 - The Opportunity Agenda is a new non profit organization that will formally launch with the release of its first report, The State of Opportunity in America, on February 7th. The Opportunity Agenda is a non-partisan communications, research and advocacy organization whose mission is to build the national will to expand opportunity in America. The State of Opportunity in America will be the first national study to assess how our country is faring in terms of opportunity for all. In addition to measuring opportunity for all Americans, it will provide easily accessible information and analysis regarding inequality of opportunity for various communities in areas such as health care, housing, criminal justice, education, employment and other indicators. It also provides specific recommendations to help policy makers and institutions fulfill America’s promise as a true land of opportunity.

We will launch publicly in Washington, D.C. with several events, including:

Tuesday, February 7th
(location: Center for American Progress, 1333 H Street, 10th floor)

9:00 am
Press Briefing (launch of organization and release of its first report, The State of Opportunity in America)

Scheduled speakers include: Bill Lann Lee, former assistant attorney general under President Clinton and chairman and co-founder of The Opportunity Agenda); Silvia Henriquez, executive director of the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health; Brian Smedley, research director and former senior program officer in the Division of Health Sciences Policy of the Institute of Medicine; and Mia White, program officer, economic justice, The Ms. Foundation for Women.
