Antiwar Activists to Place Toy Soldiers Under Christmas Trees at White House

WASHINGTON - December 23 - What: PeaceAction Montgomery will be working to end the war in Iraq by gathering in Washington, DC, and placing toy soldiers labeled “Bring Me Home” around each of the 56 Christmas trees on the Ellipse in front of the White House. The trees are part of the season’s message of Peace on Earth. Each state and territory is sending its sons and daughters to fight in a war without reason or end. This must stop now. At the foot of each tree, we will place our wishes to bring these soldiers to safety and remind Americans that it’s time to bring the soldiers home.

When: Monday, Dec. 26, 2005 at 11:30 AM

Where: The Ellipse (in front of the White House)

Who: PeaceAction Montgomery is a local chapter (in Montgomery County) of Peace Action, the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots peace organization. PeaceAction Montgomery currently is working on three campaigns: Out of Iraq NOW, No More Torture, and Counter-Recruitment. (See www.PeaceActionMC.org.)

Photo Opportunity: PeaceAction members placing toy soldiers labeled “Bring Me Home” under the Christmas trees in front of the White House.
