WASHINGTON - September 28 - An online calculator that enables users to easily convert tax or spending numbers into per capita or percentage figures was released today by the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR).

CEPR’s Budget Calculator allows users to place specific tax or spending numbers in the context of the total U.S. budget. It converts dollar amounts into either dollars per capita (e.g., per citizen) or a percentage of total revenues, discretionary spending or total budget (including nondiscretionary spending). The calculator also generates a bar chart that provides a graphic comparison between the budget figure and defense spending for the same time period.
