Not In Our Name Hosts a Community Gathering of Opposition to War & Repression “No Matter Who Is Elected, WE SAY NO to War & Repression”

NEW YORK, NY -- November 2 -- In the face of an uncertain future, the Not In Our Name project joins with artists, poets, activists and everyday people for a community gathering of opposition to war and repression. Election coverage, mass die-ins, street theater, art and resistance will be found at Union Square the evening of November 2, 2004. Sound permit granted for 5pm to 8pm.

“We call on everyone who hates this course and sees the danger - millions and millions across the country - to act with determination and firmness, to refuse to be silent or to acquiesce to terms that tell us we must support their ‘war on terror’ for a hollow promise of ‘safety.’ We must repudiate their plan and their logic, and stand with the people of the world - no matter who is elected and no matter what the empire-builders have in store. They are thinking and acting outside the ballot box - so must we.” -Not In Our Name Interim Steering Committee Statement
