As Elections Near, Plans Against War & Repression
Move Forward with Urgency

NEW YORK, NY -- October 27 -- The Not In Our Name project calls for a night of resistance and community on November 2, 2004, 5pm – 10pm, Union Square in New York City. As even the most mainstream newspapers like USA Today report of voter registration forms being tossed out by republicans, and stories circulate of voter fraud and intimidation tactics, anti-war activists refuse to allow a break in protesting.

Not In Our Name, Students for Justice in Palestine – NYU, New York City Labor Against War, Cabbies Against Bush, Long Island Alliance for Peaceful Alternatives, Blue Triangle Network – NYC, Rev. Bryan Hooper – Washington Square United Methodist Church, GLAMericans For Peace and others are planning for a night of murals, interactive art, politcs, spoken word, music and community.

Spoken word artist, Koba, (from Kontrast) will be performing, along with Nicholas Powers, Billy Lamont and others. Visual artists will creating pieces on-site, and silent election coverage will be projected onto screens next to resistance and war footage provided by Free Speech TV, Indymedia and Paper Tiger Productions
