WASHINGTON - August 25 - New California Media and Amnesty International USA will be releasing the results of the first national, multilingual poll of Arab, Iranian and Pakistani Americans during a conference call on Thursday, August, 26th at 11:30 a.m. EST. The poll documents opinions in these communities on a wide range of topics including: President Bush's Iraq policy; risks of future terrorist acts; discrimination and racial/religious profiling post 9/11; the U.S.A. Patriot Act; immigration detentions and security checks. Respondents were also asked their opinion on the upcoming Nov. 2 presidential elections. The multilingual poll was conducted for New California Media (NCM), a San Francisco-based nonprofit committed to promoting ethnic media nationwide, and Amnesty International USA, the US section of the worldwide human rights organization, by nationally recognized pollster Sergio Bendixen of Bendixen & Associates. The survey of 600 respondents (including 400 Arab Americans; 100 Iranian Americans and 100 Pakistani Americans) was conducted in Arabic, Urdu, Farsi and English. The survey was conducted between July 31st and August 18th as armed conflict continued to plague Iraq and as U.S. terror warnings were escalated.
