President Urged to Ensure Cooperation with Leak Probe

WASHINGTON - February 10 - A letter Reps. Waxman and Conyers sent to President Bush today asks about the steps the President is taking to ensure that White House officials comply with the President's directive to cooperate with the Justice Department investigation into the leak of the identity of a covert CIA operative. Press accounts today indicate that most White House officials are declining to sign waivers allowing media representitives to discuss their conversations with White House staff. These actions directly contradict the President's direction for staff to comply fully with Justice Department requests.
