- October 29 - John Podesta, president of the new Center for American Progress, will speak at the National Press Club Friday, October 31st at 10 am. In his speech, Podesta will discuss the newly-launched progressive think tank, and release a new report evaluating the Patriot Act and the Bush Administration’s response to September 11th. Podesta’s speech will run roughly 20 minutes and reporters will be welcome to ask questions.
The new report, released just after the two year anniversary of the Patriot Act, addresses the major prongs of the Administration’s response to 9/11 and shows how, in many ways, those legislative changes have actually hurt America’s security.
