| WASHINGTON
- March 28 - Leaders of the media and arts and entertainment industries
will join Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) staff
and volunteers from across the country for the organization's
annual gala, Planned Parenthood Honors: A Salute to Courage, Integrity,
and Leadership. The evening will feature the PPFA Maggie Awards,
recognizing courage and excellence in covering reproductive rights
and health care issues.
Gloria Feldt,
president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and author
of Behind Every Choice Is a Story, will host the event. Presenters
and honorees include actor Annabeth Gish; actor and talk show
host Cynthia Garrett; television shows Six Feet Under and Everwood;
the film Real Women Have Curves; and the Human Rights Watch
Web site. The evening will conclude with the presentation of
our highest honor, the Margaret Sanger Award, to Jane Fonda,
a passionate advocate for reproductive rights and a leader in
the field of teen pregnancy prevention.
