Yesterday evening, the U.S. military intentionally bombed Iraq
TV. Program coordinator on the Middle East and North Africa
for the Committee to Protect Journalists, Campagna said: "Broadcast
media is a civilian object under the Geneva Conventions and
cannot be targeted unless it is used for military purposes (e.g.
military communication)." CPJ also objected to the New York
Stock Exchange pulling Al-Jazeera's press credentials yesterday.

An independent journalist and analyst who has covered the Middle
East for over two decades, including the Iran-Iraq war in the
south of Iraq, Andoni is monitoring the Arab-language media. She
said today: "The POW footage has been shown by numerous TV stations
around the world, yet Al-Jazeera was singled out by the U.S. government
and demonized." Al-Jazeera this week launched an English language
website [http://english.aljazeera.net],
which, along with its Arabic language site [www.aljazeera.net]
has reportedly been sabotaged by hackers in recent days. Specifically,
the U.S. servers are down, so the websites are accessible around
the world, but not in the U.S. Images from Al-Jazeera, some very
graphically showing the horrors of war from Basra, have been posted
