- April 24 - Aging diesel vehicles that belch harmful pollutants make up the bulk of the nation's school bus fleet. In addition to threatening
the environment, these outdated buses endanger the health and
safety of the over 23 million schoolchildren that ride them each
day. On Thursday, April 26, actor Bradley Whitford from The West
Wing will join lawmakers and the Union of Concerned Scientists on
Capitol Hill for a press conference to launch a national campaign
to replace these dirty, unsafe school buses with cleaner, safer
alternatives.
