100 Student Organizers Meet in NYC to Plan Opposition to War and Occupation

NEW YORK, NY -- November 18 -- "The Third Annual Campus Antiwar Network (CAN) conference took place this past weekend, November 13-14 at Pace University in New York City. http://www.campusantiwar.net

The convergence was an important success with thirty schools represented and just about 100 delegates registered. The conference took place during the heat of the US¹s historic escalation against the people of Iraq, and featured the participation of Mike Hoffman.

Hoffman, the co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War spoke about the reality of war as well as what he witnessed of the Iraqi response to occupation." The audio of his talk is available at http://www.traprockpeace.org/campus_antiwar_04.html

"As the bodies of thousands of Iraqis continued to pile up on the streets of Fallujah and Mosul, we met to regroup and reorient ourselves to better oppose the barbarism and racism of occupation and war."

The students strengthened their point of unity concerning Palestine.

"The old point of unity read: 'We stand opposed to the oppression of the Palestinian people and the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.' The revised point reads: 'We stand opposed to the oppression of the Palestinian people and the occupation of Palestinian land, and support the right of Palestinians to self-determination.'"
