Michael Ratner on Edward Snowden and the US Whistle-Blowing System: ‘He Had No Real Choices’
Michael Ratner, U.S. attorney for Julian Assange and Wikileaks, joins “Viewpoint” host John Fugelsang to talk about Edward Snowden’s current status.
Ratner says, “President Putin made a very strong statement saying that in his view, Ed Snowden has a human rights quality about what he has done, that they would not send him to the United States but he probably should go to another country —indicating they don’t really want him in Russia.”
John asks Ratner if he would have advised Snowden differently, and Ratner responds: “I would not have recommended he use the whistle-blowing system set up in the United States,” adding “What kind of whistle-blowing could he do when all the governmental powers are essentially against him?”
