- August 25 - The Children's Defense Fund Action Council announced that it is airing a new 30-second television ad focused on protecting Head Start's comprehensive preschool services from the Bush administration's plan to dismantle it. The spot, "Falling Behind," begins airing today in markets in Iowa, Ohio, Tennessee, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
The spot, produced by Fallon Minneapolis, will be available for viewing online by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2003.
Text of the ad follows:
[Narrator]:
Since 1965, Head Start has helped 20 million children get ready for school.
But now, the President wants to block grant and dismantle Head Start.
That means a lot of our children are at risk of falling farther and farther behind.
Unless you act.
Call Congress at 202-224-3121. Tell Congress Head Start's not broken, so don't break it.
