Wall St Protesters Target Homes of Top Executives
NEW YORK - The Occupy Wall Street movement will take its protests to the New York homes of super-wealthy executives on Tuesday as Goldman Sachs boss Lloyd Blankfein canceled a talk at a college in the city.
Protests are taking place throughout major cities in the US. (Sky News) Protesters will march through Manhattan's Upper East Side on a "Billionaire's Tour" to take their grievances about economic inequality to the homes of News Corp's Rupert Murdoch, JPMorgan Chase's Jamie Dimon and others.
As the movement builds strength around the United States, Blankfein canceled a talk at New York's Barnard College, saying he had to be in Washington. A spokesman for Goldman Sachs, the banking and investment firm that received and repaid federal bailout funds at the height of the U.S. economic crisis, said it was a scheduling conflict for the chief executive.
Hundreds of people have been camping in a park near Wall Street since September 17, sparking similar rallies around the country against what participants see as corporate greed. More than 700 people have been arrested during marches in New York where some police used pepper spray.
About 100 protesters were arrested earlier on Tuesday in Boston after the group expanded its camp.
The "Billionaire's Tour" on Tuesday also plans to stop at the homes of David Koch, co-founder of energy conglomerate Koch Industries, and hedge fund manager John Paulson.
"Join us on a walking tour of the homes of some of the bank and corporate executives that don't pay taxes, cut jobs, engaged in mortgage fraud, tanked our economy ... all while giving themselves record setting bonuses," said NYC Communities for Change, one of several groups organizing the protest.
It said protesters would march from house to house "demanding accountability for Wall Street crimes and an extension of the Millionaire's Tax," a New York state tax that is due to expire at the end of the year.
On Thursday college students are planning a solidarity protest on at least 56 campuses, while large protests against economic inequality are being planned on Saturday around the United States.
Several thousand protesters, including teachers and religious leaders, converged on downtown Chicago on Monday, targeting a meeting of the Mortgage Bankers Association and a U.S. futures exchange trade association conference.

Show AllThe rich- you can almost feel the breathing down their necks.
Awesome!
What really bad luck for the Mortgage Bankers Association and a U.S. futures exchange trade association conference to be holding their meetings in Chicago just when there's a bunch of unsavory protesters around. Thank god their police are there to protect their interests.
Direct protests against the monied and power elite, is exactly what is needed. Power to the People!

This is all getting very real indeed.

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was too busy collecting campaign contributions from Wall Street banksters to investigate a single one one of them for the fraud that caused the loss of billions of dollars to New York State's pension funds whose interest Cuomo was obliged to represent at the very height of their fraud. Upon being elected Governor he is following up his promise to Wall Street fraudsters to end the Millionaires' Tax with no serious oppostion from his fellow Democrats.
Ironic that Cuomo's replacement at Attorney General actually has some balls and is likely to be the first Democrat to actually put some bankers in jail. He is what we need in the Oval office instead of the current bank and banker protector. Finally some one willing to stand up to Obama and his Commerce Department and his Justice Department and continue the investigation of robo-signing, false documentation and general fraud by the Banks. I hope 2012 brings a Thanksgiving day perp parade of Obama and bankers in orange jumpsuits marching down Park Avenue following 5000 Clydesdales.
Let the oligarchy rob you, rape you or kill you, or else you will be accused of class envy
Well...look who just got paid 25 cents (before taxes) for that little gem of wisdom. Surely, you must be part of the 1% (your good spelling kinda gives you away), you must have graduated from Yale with Bush.
Not beneficial to whom?
I watched "V for Vendetta" last night again. Prescient!
EZ, did you notice that V targeted the media mouthpiece first?
If a politician told a lie in the woods .....
This is great... And the college students should check on the compensation package of their college president....and everyone should see how much the CEO of their hospital makes.
We need a 99% tax on ALL income above $1,000,000. All income - earned and from investment. Support this and we will really be 99%ers.
Mr. Fisk------ are you by any chance a 1 percenter????? Or just a troll???
dh
He is a troll. A 1 percenter would have known how to use commas.
He probably lives in his Mom's basement and is convinced that someday he will have a couple of quarters to rub together. Isn't that what the elite promise these gulible teabaggers?
Bravo! That's a whole 50 cents you've made on just one thread. Don't forget to pay the tax on that now, ye hear?
Just wait!....into the mists, maybe one, two, three or more of those "Mortgage Monsters/Default Swap Artists" will slowly, quietly begin to disappear....Where DID they go?...alone on some uncharted Carribean rock?...the Bermuda Triangle?...a place where they still do 'rendition'?
We need to expose who our aristocracy are. Make them real people for everyone not names hiding behind Corps. Lets expose their life style and let everyone see how they're living on their ill gotten gains while the rest of us struggle to keep our heads above the rapidly rising water. Just saying the 1% without seeing whom they are is meaningless.
I wish them luck and safe passage, but think the cops will be bashing and arresting them all long before they get near the cowards.
I'm afraid you are correct. If at all possible they will plant some operatives to taunt the police and start a "riot" so the force can be used. No way are the super rich going to tolwerate the rabble so close to their doorsteps. This is just what the MSM needs to start their campaign against civil unrest.
Good luck protesters! I'm on your side.
Ayuh. Billionaire alley is NOT a "free speech zone".
We had a very interesting incident here in our little occupation in Atlanta last night. The cops showed up enforced: patty wagons by the scores, riot gear, blaring sirens, the works. They surrounded the protesters and made it clear that they would start the arrests. It is not quiet clear yet what transpired exactly, but apparently a lot of people (including some influential Hollywood types) called the Mayor and threatened to boycott if they arrested the protesters. By around 11 p.m., they quietly backed down and went away. That was a truly a great victory for the protesters who, today, marched on to Bank of America and demonstrated there for a few hours.
On Hallowe'en can 1000's trick or treat legally wherever they wish? No permits needed?
Costumes of course mandatory. And of course there should be a "treat"( like our money back) or otherwise a time honored 'trick".
Just thinking / joking of course.
I hear the rich taste good with salt and pepper...
I've heard it's very difficult to get rid of the gamy taste. Apparently roadkill tastes better. Lots of butter might help. Any Wall Street types out there want to trade their Mercedes 500 or better for my top of the line Taurus with leather and moonroof? It's a nice safe Ford to drive anywhere. Just add bullet proof glass and your good to go.

Ha ha ha! Ain't it amazing what chicken shit cowards they are?
Couple things.....Like already mentioned, or asked......Who is Wall Street ? Wall Street is a........well it's a STREET ! Yes, isn't the NYSE there ? What else exists on this street ? Maybe someone high up in the OWS movement should actually list what or who exists on This Street. Names of corporations. Who are the high ups, in said corporations ? Who's CEOs are making what on the backs of their peons ? Who's Top traders and money shakers are doing what with who's money ? Personally, I would like to know just who on this street is the target ?
Second point comes in a second post. To not make it too long to read in one.
Second point.....Who hasn't read about Netflix recently ? Man, what a statement that was ! Funny how easy it was for me to cancel my subscription on the designated day ! My personal way of saying, "No, your not getting 6 more of my dollars !" Funny how it unfolded and the squirming began and then came the back pedaling. A minor skirmish, granted. Is anybody getting my point ? Apparently, the high ups on that STREET really only focus on ONE thing. Can't we arrange a REAL Netflix on one of them ? Personally, (and they may not be on the STREET), It would not break my heart at all if not one person stepped foot in a BP station for.....say, like a month. Bring them to their frikkin knees in an offshoot and statement of OWS. In that month, or maybe sooner, a new target is decided and the let the Netflixing begin again. I don't know, maybe a statement with $$ attached to it would get their attention quicker. Police cannot beat you or arrest you for not spending your $$ somewhere, can they ? Don't Occupy their wallets, with your money will be an offshoot of OWS.
Done now ! Thanks.
I love these people!
I was happy to read that the protest was able to tour the homes and not be attacked. Good job all. I especially liked the presentation of that cheque.
