George Bush Thought 9/11 Plane Had Been Shot Down on His Orders
Memoirs reveal former US president gave order to shoot down any hijacked planes before United Airlines flight 93 crashed
George Bush initially believed the only plane not to reach its intended target during the 11 September ttacks had been shot down on his orders, according to leaks from the former president's memoir of his two terms in office.
George Bush initially thought United Airlines flight 93 had been shot down in Pennsylvania. (Photograph: Jason Reed/Reuters) Bush reveals that he gave the order for any further suspected hijacked planes to be shot down after the first aircraft were flown into the World Trade Centre in New York during the 2001 terror attacks.
He at first thought the crash of United Airlines flight 93 in Pennsylvania had resulted from this instruction, although it later emerged that passengers had stormed the cockpit as hijackers flew the plane towards the Capitol building in Washington.
The memoir, Decision Points, is due to be published on 9 November, in the aftermath of the US midterm elections, and Bush is already lined up for interviews on the Oprah Winfrey and NBC Today shows.
The Drudge Report website says the very personal book opens with the line: "It was a simple question: 'Can you remember the last day you didn't have a drink?'" as Bush deals with the well-known issue of his alcohol consumption.
His drinking has previously been said to have come to an end when he woke up with a hangover following his 40th birthday celebrations.
In a chapter about stem cell research, he describes receiving a letter from Nancy Reagan detailing a "wrenching family journey", but says: "I did feel a responsibility to voice my pro-life convictions and lead the country toward what Pope John Paul II called a culture of life."
Bush goes on to describes an emotional July 2001 meeting with the Pope, who had Parkinson's disease, at the pontiff's summer residence.
The Pope reportedly recognised the promise of science but implored Bush to support life in all its forms.
At the pontiff's funeral in 2005, Bush - after a reminder from his wife, Laura, that it was a time to "pray for miracles" - said a prayer for the ABC news anchor Peter Jennings, who had cancer.
The book is said to stay clear of criticising Barack Obama, and a source told the Drudge Report: "You will find the president strong, loving life, and ultimately at peace with the decisions he made."

Show AllThis man deserves to live in the comfort of prison for the rest of his days!
Dubya tells us his gretest discomfort was his failure to privatize social security.
Had Dubya succeeded in privatizing Social Security the 2008 financial industry meltdown would have negatively impacted far more people far more severely.
The man who does not read, writes a book, in which he brags that God told him to do it! Considering the war and destruction his decisions promulgated, one must assume his God had a destructive agenda. Remembering Mike Holmgren's humorous message to Reggie White that 'God wants you to go to Green Bay', I'm wondering if Bush's God is named Dick?
yahweh is the god of war.
Jesus is the god of love.
Clinton never inhaled and Dubya never exhaled.
They likely had a ghost writer string his sentences together for him.
He is a god-fearing man. Bush spoke to god and god advised him to unleashed America awesome firepower. The shock and awe, show the World America's supremacy and now we are broke! I would like to see Bushy, Dick Cheney, John Ashcroft, Don Rumfeld and Obama together with 6 Al Qaeda a luxury room, a five stars Hotel Guantanamo for the rest of their lives. Wouldn't that be Cool baby?
I agree, along with most of his administration. I have not read his Nov 9 book, so I can not comment on it's contents, but I believe that it is a daunting task to sign up for (being US President), however I also believe GW was unqualified, and blundered his way thru the job at the expense of America's middle class. The dirt, slime, greed, darkness, and corruption will unfortunately be felt for years to come, even with transparency, and better policies. I believe he did his best, and America did elect him and give him a second undeserved term, and to that point, we should take away...NEVER fall asleep as the voting public like that EVER again.
Bush did his best to follow the orders of his puppet master. His job was to smile and act like a nice cowboy. He was never elected, not the first term or the second. It is in the lap of the Dimocraps that they never complained. If that is not enough truth to convince you that these two corporate political parties are just taking turns screwing the working people you are as dum as the bush.
Bush was completely out of the loop during the controlled demolition of the World Trade Center. Cheney was in charge. Bush was on a nice plane ride to an underground bunker somewhere. They wouldn't even take his phone calls at the White House.
"I believe he did his best, and America did elect him and give him a second undeserved term .."
Did his best to be the war monger that he is.
And America didn't elect him. Those bastrards stole the elections with their crooked friends like Ken Blackwell, companies like Diebold, and the second time around, with the additional help of that corrupt group of monsters on the United States Supreme Court.
Almost a million Iraqis dead, an entire country destroyed, we're chin deep in Afghanistan, thousands of Americans killed, tens of thousands permanently crippled, no health care, a Congress more in the grip of corporations than ever before, our Constitution civil rights in jeopardy, the military completely demoralized, torture suddenly an acceptable notion in violation of the Geneva conventions, our economy is devastated, he abandonned a major American city during a natural disaster because the residents were black and poorer, he pulled health care from children with cancer, he allowed millions of illegal workers to cross the border, American jobs are being shipped out of the country more than ever, we have a major foreclosure crisis, and last but not least, 9-11 is a direct result of his family's relationship with the Bin Ladens and their little oil games together.
He belongs in a prison cell along with Dick Cheney for the rest of their traitorous lives.

God Bless George Bush and his whole Family.
60 million people in two country's have their lives torn into shreds because of OIL wars and Empire, its costing Americans 12 billion a month to keep it that way, Banks got bailed out, Americans lost 10 million jobs over the last 6 years, free trade has moved millions of jobs to country's with cheep labor, right wing lunatics were given tremendous power, the Pentagon is running the country, warrant less surveillance, 72 Fusion Centers, 5 million ground community gang stalking stazi, 5 million phone calls and emails monitored a day, 11 trillion in debt before he left office,
Heck of a Job Bushy
You Created the United Stazi of America, land of the gang stalking warrant less surveillance spies and the home of fearful rat fink pricks.
9/11 did not need a two war revenge retaliation, we needed to create an information system and global terrorists police network, track them down quietly, and destroy their organizations inside out.
But , the plan was control of the middle east oil region, wasn't it, military industrial complex take over, new world order with terrorism as a global fear,
That was the plan, global financial collapse to usher in a new global currency that can track terrorist purchases, the credit system, no more paper currency.
9-11 was a money making tool for global domination, just follow the money, who benefited the most because of 9-11.
Its not a conspiracy theory if its true.
Heck of a job Bushy, and much thanks to the supreme court, the super rich using the US military as a global police force, congress and the Pentagon for protecting the Constitution of the USA.
"9-11 was a money making tool for global domination, just follow the money, who benefited the most because of 9-11."
Who benefitted the most from 9/11? The truest answer is the murderous Israeli thugs known as zionists.
q
Good rant bornfreemen!
The real lesson of 9-11 is, "never let a crisis go to waste", or the Emanuel Doctrine, which is obviously followed by both parties.
bornfreemen,
God Bless Barak Obama and his whole Family.
"60 million people in two country's have their lives torn into shreds because of OIL wars and Empire, its costing Americans 12 billion a month to keep it that way, Banks got bailed...........
You referring to Dubya or Obama? More like like a re-run a nightmare continue to this day. Not only he spy but given a freer hand to do even more and including assassination, American citizen.
The loathing I feel for this man and the neo-con cadre that rode into town with him is immense. Shallow, hypocritical, and smarmily self-assured, this boy-man presided over the fiscal and military blunders which will continue to haunt this nation, and because of their impact the world, for decades.
I think history will remember him as among the worst (for example, with Nixon), and certainly, the most hated.
Still in his protected bubble. He lives in his Pope-mobile--plugging toward those Catholic votes for all his compatriots. Guido da Montefeltro?
Who would have thought that the Catholic Church would have its cockpit stormed by the passengers?
I'd say the ninth Bolgia would do well for his after-life come-uppance. One Circle deeper than Guido da Montefeltro.

Read the below essay from 2002. And it's still going on and on and on from this premeditated constant chaos and destruction:
www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1544.htm
"Dick Cheney’s Song of America" [early 1990's --- current]
"The Plan is for the United States to rule the world. The overt theme is unilateralism, but it is ultimately a story of domination. It calls for the United States to maintain its overwhelming military superiority and prevent new rivals from rising up to challenge it on the world stage. It calls for dominion over friends and enemies alike. It says not that the United States must be more powerful, or most powerful, but that it must be absolutely powerful."

GW didn't know what the hell was going on. He was vacationing frequently, and given as much information as was desired. Others were in charge. That should be clear by now. GW was the mouthpiece in front of the cameras; just as Reagan was from his second year on because he already was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. He sure did know how to read a script. GWHBush was not only Vice President, but also unprecedentedly the National Security Advisor in Reagan's administration. Cheney and Rumsfeld were also major presences in Reagan's, GWHB's and GW's administrations.
Along with other cohorts, they had their way, and Cheney, Rove et al., and likely Rumsfeld too, are very much still around, although behind the scenes.
It all reminds me of science fiction, "Star Wars," for example, except it's real right here on this increasingly battered earth.

You are quite right. The entire "storming the cockpit scenario" was built around people having supposedly received Cell Phone calls from Loved ones on the Plane. The technology of the time would have made this impossible.
The FBI itself relaized this public position was weak so changed it suggesting the calls made from Plane seat Phones. Indeed this the testimony given at the Moussaoui
trial. This does not jibe with people who received calls who claimed their own phones dispalyed "Caller IDS" from cell phones.
This fact alone should cause any person that can think critically to rethink the entire story because the VERY fact that such bogus information being released as the incidents occurred is proof that some group other then "19 hijackers belinging to Al QaedA" was involved.
Actually the technology did exist at the time. They had telephones on the planes as well. Friends and relatives did receive calls from the plane. Unless they are in on the conspiracy as well.
Ah... We kinda HEARD THE RECORDINGS! Barbara Bush's voice was confirmed! http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/09/11/pentagon.olson/ Note that is NOT wikipedia or any other site subject to later editing. There were many things that went wrong that day. The actions of the heroic passengers of Flight 93 were not among them. Let's celebrate heros and heroines, not tear them down. Thank you.
Bush is at peace in the same way as lobotomized mental patients are. He simply lacks the intellectual capacity to comprehend the horrors that he wrought and the moral wherewithal to care.
I'm amazed that the Bushie trolls haven't yet jumped all over this thread to claim that Obama is worse than their boy.
q
I can assure you I am no Bushie troll. Compare with Dubya, they are the same and probably worst. Can you believe Obama let Goldman Sachs walks free with Billion? Countywide CEO a pat on the hand that stealing Billions? How about the homeowners that lost their home? Hey, your Obama has also destroyed so many lives too.. . .
obomber= bush; both mass murderers; main difference; only one was elected !
There is definitely something lacking. For someone who claims god talks to him, he definitely lacks any conscience whatsoever.
Please do not take offence for my views.
It's not lack of conscience, he is really a very sick man. That include many Congressmen, Senators, to the very top of our Government. We must not forget the Religious leader too. How can they justify the killing or watch while the killing going on and keeping silence all the while? It's mind bogging. And that is only a part of a long list.....
Ther's a word for people who claim God talks to them: Delussional or possibly psychotic.
Thank goodness he wasn't really in charge. Just imagine how bad things could have gotten.
He may not really be in charge, just like the one now in the WH also not really in charge. But in their names many had suffer and more will suffer. Not only in the two wars but also here in the USA. How many more foreclosures, unemployed and homelessness will make these faceless understands!
One more, Iraq, presently without a government after seven months flawed election and another flawed Election in Afghan where Karzai said there is nothing wrong taking money from Iran. Are these the kind of Democracies we spend Trillions and Americans live for?
I wonder how they feel about his admission that he didn't even turn on the television to see what was going on in America "live" ?
"In a chapter about stem cell research, he describes receiving a letter from Nancy Reagan detailing a "wrenching family journey", but says: "I did feel a responsibility to voice my pro-life convictions..."
It never ceases to amaze me how some people can rationalize away the disastrous results of their decisions. He ordered planes full of passengers to be shot down, invaded two countries, killing unknown number of innocent sentient humans, but he feels good about himself because he "saved" some clumps of cells that are not self aware, and only have the POTENTIAL* of becoming humans.
There is nothing you could ever say to Bush or anyone like him to convince him that what he did was wrong. He holds a level of conviction in himself that only a fool can hold. Never, ever underestimate the damage a fool, or even worse yet, a group of fools reinforcing their ill held beliefs can do.
*(A quick Google search shows that statistically only half of all healthy looking embryos become a viable baby, making "god" the greatest abortionist of them all..)
NC-Tom, I was going to post a similar observation about the irony in his statement that he believes in embracing a "culture of life"; so, this equates to protecting stem cells while murdering innocent people, including children, in other countries.
The US is so far behind in the use of stem cells. I've read accounts of blind American children whose families had to raise thousands of dollars to travel to China where stem cell treatment is used in some cases to restore sight.
Meanwhile, there is something dreadfully wrong with the idea that this man, and any other person involved in war crimes, could be a free (and wealthy) person, enjoying life and at peace with any decisions he'd made. Even more despicable is our current administration going about their business pretending there is nothing to investigate, no one to be held accountable, even in the wake of documents that have been released proving otherwise. And the American people aren't demanding that justice be done.
They had a place for these guys in the movie, "Silence Of The Lambs." Is Jodie Foster available? We need her today more then ever.
A puppet is completely at ease when no one is pulling the strings.
Nice one!
Bush kinds reminds me of "Chuckie" the psychotic puppet.
Wow, I love a good Bush bashing like the next guy, but I mean this is getting tiresome. We are acting like the Republicans who kept talking about Bill Clinton years after he left office. The man sucked, he left us with two wars a horrible recession, and committed numerous crimes, but in the end he got away scott free, a politician getting away with something...who would have thought :/ Lets get over it!!! We have to keep our mind on the present if we are ever going to have a real future!!! While we were Bush bashing, the nutbag Tea Party rose to prominence right under our noses!! This was supposed to be the Democractic/Liberal turnaround and we may lose that next week!!
I don't understand what you mean by "tiresome." This is the first article specifically about Bush as former president in a while. Most of the "bashing" on this site has been directed toward Obama almost from the day he took office.
Why would you be so sensitive to criticism of someone who deserves far worse? The creation of the Tea Party was a reaction to Democratic control of two-thirds of the federal government and is unrelated to excoriation of the president from hell.
Passive-aggressive trolls are the worst kind.
q
I don't think it's merely Bush "bashing" as you call it, Titus; I think people are thoroughly disgusted that leaders can get away with war crimes- as long as they're Americans, that is.
People will also continue to bash Reagan and Kissinger. As long as Reagan held in such high esteem by so many and as long as Kissinger walks the streets a free man, I think the bashing is very necessary.
Do people really want to see the revisonists to turn GW Bush into one of the Great Presidents?
One can not focus on the future if one ignores the past. You are all but quoting Barack Obama when he explained away war crime trials for Bush\Cheney and crew.
As to the Liberal\democratic turnaround. That happened in the last election and as far as I can see nothing turned around. When you say "we may lose that next week.." to what WE do you refer and what exactly will be lost?
I really do not have a lot of use for the sentiment of "Lets forget the past and focus on the future..."
A British writer once observed that one of the most troubling aspects of the United States of America was the tendency of its Citizens to want to forget their pasts.
The United States of Amnesia!!!
Ignorance is Bliss
..although what goes around comes around...
"Bush reveals that he gave the order for any further hijacked planes to be shot down after the first aircraft were flown into the World Trade Center in New York during the September 11, 2001 terror attacks".
If you want to believe Drudge, and you want to believe Little George's self-serving memoir - if we all temporarily suspend our disbelief and give this leaked tidbit of revisionist history complete credence - then where the hell was the all the air cover that our valiant manchild Commander-in-Chief ordered on high alert when a hijacked 727 slammed into the Pentagon?
Back when I was in the army infantry and "war games" were played as a training exercise, "winning" usually consisted of the A team successfully attacking the B team's command headquarters. On September 11, 2001, the military command center of the great global superpower was successfully attacked in the heart of the nation's capital, in broad daylight, without any defense measures anywhere in sight.
How colossal a fuck up can you get? Why was nobody court martialed, no one in uniform or in the civilian national security command structure ever held accountable for the fiasco at the Pentagon for the events of 9/11?
And if George W. Bush for once is actually not lying, but is telling the American people the truth about one small but significant detail in all that took place on September 11, 2001, doesn't the fact that the President's orders were disobeyed, disregarded, or incompetently carried out in wholesale manner constitute criminal negligence?
Bill from Saginaw
Either the most colossal fuck up of all time... or the most brilliantly executed false flag attack ever.
Only the powers-that-be know, and they ain't tellin'
I think a good Bush bashing is good for the Soul
bash... bash... bash...
It is important to note that sick human minds can rationalize anything. Anything.
Nuremberg chief prosecutor, Ben Ferencz conducted a trial in post-war Germany at Nuremberg. (See more about Ben, who still lives and works for peace and international law, at http://benferencz.org)
Here is an excerpt of an essay he wrote about how a German military leader, Dr. Otto Ohlendorf, justified the mass murder of children:
>>The Mentality of Mass Murderers
To prevent acts of genocidal barbarism, one must understand the mentality and reasoning of the murderers. The twenty-two defendants in the Einsatzgruppen case were selected on the basis of high rank and education. Many held doctor degrees -- six were SS Generals. The principle defendant, General Dr. Otto Ohlendorf, patiently explained why his unit had killed about 90,000 Jews. Killing all Jews and Gypsies was necessary, said Ohlendorf. as a matter of self-defense.
According to Ohlendorf, it was known that the Soviets planned total war against Germany. A German preemptive strike was better than waiting to be attacked. It was also known, said Ohlendorf, that Jews supported the Bolsheviks - therefore all Jews had to be eliminated. But why did he, the father of five children, kill the little babes -- thousands of them? The bland reply was that if the children learned that their parents had been eliminated, they would grow up to be enemies of Germany. Long range security was the goal. He lacked facts sufficient to challenge Hitler's conclusions. It was all very logical -- according to General Dr. Ohlendorf.>>

The illegal invasion of Iraq, decided and led by Mr. Bush, was an illegal war of aggression, a crime against peace, and contained within it it "the accumulated evil of the whole of war," including the likely deaths of over 1.5 million innocent Iraqis. (See Lancet study.) And he is at peace with his decisions. How Ohlendorf-like.
I'll know we have justice in America when Mr. Bush and his imitator, Mr. Obama, are both in prison for the crime of illegal aggression.
I think mass murder by the US government needs to be PERSONAL, that is, to be felt personally by Americans, as hideous, evil, and somthing-that-must-be-stopped.
This morning on DN, Amy Goodman interviewed Jeremy Scahill and Rick Rowley. They told a story of encountering on their recent unembedded trip to Afghanistan, a (roughly) five year-old girl who was playing and muttering something. The translator told them she was reciting the names of her family members who had been killed by American soldiers. They thought she was singing some kind of song. I guess it was the blues. Perhaps a pain too deep for tears. They also encountered a young boy so traumatized by a stomach wound inflicted by US soldiers that he could no longer speak.
The text:
>>We went to another place in Paktia province, where this little girl was sort of weaving back and forth and saying—repeating this thing. And Rick was filming her, and we were thinking that she was just playing and we were filming a kid playing in a courtyard. And our translator had a tear going down his face. And we said, "What did she say?" And he said she was reciting all the members of her family that were killed in the night raid. "They killed my mommy. They killed my aunt. They killed my uncle." You know, and she was a kid playing. This is a kid who’s three or four years old.
We met a kid who had been shot in the stomach and in another place by US Special Operations Forces. They literally shot the speech out of him. He couldn’t speak. And we didn’t know this until—you know, we’re documenting these things in a sort of forensic way, going through each person that was killed, how were they killed, interviewing all of the eyewitnesses. No one has ever done a thorough investigation. >>

That happened, I believe, on Obama's watch. He is responsible.
US aggression, by Bush, by Obama, by Republicans and Democrats in Congress, needs to be stopped. And to help motivate ourselves to do that we need only visualize this girl and her lament to help keep resistance to the "greatest purveyor of violence in the world today—my own government."
I think that hundreds of large pictures of the murdered and mutilated children should be put up in the Oval Office and the halls of Congress in order to make these extraordinary evil wars personal to the war mongering, cheerleaders that condone and vote for these horrible atrocities. It is very difficult for me to know that as an American citizen, I am somewhat culpable because this is being done in my name! I love my country, but am thoroughly ashamed of what my Government is doing in my name. This insanity just has to be stopped!
What never ceases to amaze me is that nearly every wartime President that we have had in office since JFK have been "chickenhawks" who have never been to war or even served in the military, and in the case of Dubaya, we had an actual deserter as A war mongering President...When that ignorant little Bastard made the remark "Bring it on", I couldn't help but think of how our troops patrolling the streets of Iraq felt about this charalatans cheap and cowardly sensationalist bravado...What A PUNK...
>>"They killed my mommy. They killed my aunt. They killed my uncle." You know, and she was a kid playing. This is a kid who’s three or four years old.
That hurts.
The way people rationalize this to themselves is mind boggling. In an online debate over the invasion of Iraq in its early years those supporting the attacks claimed the USA was liberating the poor peoples of Iraq. I linked to the picture of that little boy with his arms and limbs blown off and asked how that could be seen as an act of liberation.
I was castigated for "exploiting" the little boys suffering to make my point and it suggested I not link to such pictures in the future.
Needless to say this "rule" did not stop them from linking to pictures of Kurds (Including Children) allegedly killed by Saddam Hussein in Poison Gas attacks.
The way people "trick" thier minds and consciences into rationalizing the most horrendous of acts as acceptable while at the same time condemning those same acts when some other commits it is one of the greatest failings of Humans ability to "reason".
