Florida Pastor Calls Off Quran Burning
A Florida pastor called off plans to burn copies of the Muslim holy book after leaders from all parts of the political spectrum leaned on him to halt his plans.
Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville, Fla., called off plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday to mark the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, he said Thursday.
Jones's decision came after his plans came under heavy criticism from national political and military leaders, who warned that the inflammatory plans would spark violence against U.S. soldiers stationed overseas.
The controversial Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., which has long staged pickets of soldiers' funerals, reportedly has vowed to host its own Quran burning if Jones canceled his.

As a peace actiVist who has been stalked,slandered and called anti patriotic for not standing united in supporting the war, I know wh
at its like to be told that I could be putting troops in harms way by showing the enemy that I believe the war is unjustified.
But when you compare our groups efforts to stop the wars and stop the killing compared to flaming the fire of hate by insult, some how we look like angels trying to do the work of Jesus not put our troops in harms way.
Christ may not have been a politician but many of his acts were political. Even his reaction to the money changers or sticking up for Marie Magdalene.
Christ was for prison reform and for taking care of the sick - and for loving others.
And so, now our President appears to be most moral and just, and our generals in their defense of the Moslem religion make our military look not quit so of the devil.
Almost as if it was a PR stunt put on by the CIA, or by the devil if you believe in that sort of thing.
My first thoughts are always along the line of 'who benefits?' However, even the black ops goons wouldn't be able to stomach this kook. The one who has actually gained the most is the kook its self. The loony fringe no-nothings will fill the coffers of his enterprise and he may even end up as pundit on fox. He surely would fit right in.
Who is "defending" Islam?
No one.
The stance that people who don't support attacks against Islam are supporters of Islam, and in their logic, supporters of terrorism, is a terrible lie.

Notice the media doesn't paint him as a "radical" Christian, even as a pastor. In fact, his faith is hardly mentioned; rather just his title of pastor. If he were Muslum, M$M would be labeling him as a "radical" Muslum until your ears fell off.

That is my point. The labeling of many Afghans and Pakistanis fighting the US as radical Muslums has nothing to do with Islam but the media attaches the label anyways.
You under estimate the followings enjoyed by John Hagee, Rod Parsley, and Franklin Graham. For years they have been preaching that Islam is an evil religion that needs to be eradicated. Hagee and Parsley are especially notable for their leadership within the 'Christian Zionist' movement. They all have raised hundreds of millions of dollars to support and endorse the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. Somehow, their particular brand of extremism has escaped scrutiny during this latest episode.

I criticize the burners of ALL holy books. Actually, make that all books in general. It may be free speech but it is also needlessly insulting.
It's like the Westboro Baptist Church group: I support their right to be nasty and hateful. That being said, if a parent or friend of the deceased comes up and socks one of the Westboro bunch in the mouth then they shouldn't expect any sympathy from me.
The second the words part from their lips they've exercized free speech.

Any American that wants the Islamic people to give up their church is crazy, and not a real American. Church is church, the ignorance and simple minds that are showing up across America are so embarrasing !

What is wrong with this place ? Maybe I don't belong here anymore, because I sure do not fill my days hating people because of their religion. If that were the case, I would start with Christians !
Burning Korans is stupid, but the fate of the Middle East should not depend on what some idiot does in America.
American wouldn't riot if the Bible were burned. No one would die, nor would there be any Fatwah -like statements from any of Falwell's ilk.
Muslims should not take reprisals against Americans for any of this; they are far too sensitive, just like the ones who killed innocents in riots after the Danish cartoonist did his impudent drawing of Allah. Again, the world should not be held hostage to Muslim sensitivities.
They have to realize that their own religion is just like all others in that it is based on belief rather than fact; they should realize that in this day and age that all believers will be teased. As Madonna once sang,"It's a material world".

A majority of the world is praying for God to destroy us and our bloody Empire, and comes now above poster to brag about how exceptional we are, and that all those ignorant vengeance filled Moslems need to follow our example.

So yes, our government should pull that Florida church into court and let a jury of twelve peers decide if burning the Koran will totally destroy our morality, along with our national security.

I support these wingnut's right to burn any book they can lay their hands on...as long as the book is legally owned by the people burning them, but I also suggest that if the media did not print all these stupid articles about these racist/bigots, they would go away...better yet, perhaps lay out the rational arguments for why this act will cause more harm than good...instead of fueling the fires with more angry words...
And let me point out that the vast majority of Muslims are not evil. Just like you cannot generalize that most Christians with pickups and rifles are not going to blow up a large government buildings tomorrow, because Nichols and McVeigh did...just because a couple nutcases professing a creed does something, is not reason enough to condemn everyone who shares some trait with them...

According to the New Testament, Christ is God the Son, the one who spoke the words that created the earth. God being the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Christ when he walked this earth was both God and man, after government crucified him he was still God and man, and some say for eternity he will be both God and man.
With each passing day it becomes more and more obvious that religion is worse than useless: it creates conflicts and problems that otherwise wouldn't even exist.
This "debate" about whose god, or whose collection of written myths and poems and tribal biases, is more valid than somebody else's would be downright hilarious in its irrelevancy to the modern world ... if the outcome of those debates wasn't so dang tragic.
Our atheist and slave owner founding fathers put a fake religion in the Preamble, complete with a creator God. What do you propose we do about that?

OUR STATE RELIGION -- A FAKE MORALITY
You worship a religion when you obey its teachings, consider its laws above all other laws, and are willing to use your deadly force to protect your religion from those who would use deadly force to destroy it. A full and perfect description of government, which is the organized will of men.
For the rich nobility of America, they owning most of the slaves, wealth and all of the land grants in America, to protect their excessive wealth and right to enslave all who do manual labor, they established a fiction religion that established a fake morality which reads:

Truth is, planet earth has always been an intelligence dictatorship, and to prove the harm in it, in this life the rich will always hoard all the wealth and power.
Comes now a little church in Florida with the power to totally destroy our state religion and all its deadly force. For the Moslem religion is the world’s largest, even greater then all the Christians and Jews combined, and if our government should fail to stop the desecration of their Holy Koran, say a quick prayer to all your favorite gods because here comes Revelation and the end time in real time.
Christ was a great spiritual master, who said, "The Kingdom of Heaven is within" as one of his primary tenets. It saddens me that there are so many who somehow find cause to externalize some notion of a "Creator" as separate from the spirit of our own heart-awareness. This is the nature of love as Christ spoke of it, fully imbuing what is within and without equally.
When we conceptualize simple love and compassion into the form of an external "Creator," it's then that we humans find all kinds of cause to harm each other, mostly as a result of feeling our dearly held belief system is being threatened or undermined.
The case of this pastor is a perfect example. He believes his "God" is the only "true God" and that all other belief systems are utterly false in light of this. This is the height of spiritual pride.
When Christ said, "Love your enemy," what did he mean? Why did he say this? It seems very logical to say he's speaking of the universal nature of love, that whatever the belief system or faith of another we must strive to have great love and compassion no matter what. This is the heart of every canonized saint or holy man or woman to come out of all the faith traditions of the world.
All else is clinging to our own belief system out of fear and hatred at having to face all within ourselves that stands in the way of the pure love that we ultimately are. This is what Christ meant when he said that you will do as I have done and more; i.e. you are as much pure love as I am.
There is no joy in anger and hatred. There is only joy in the love that applies no conditions, that understands that the basis of all happiness is the wisdom that transcends all such limiting views.
The truth of our being is limitless, so very beyond language or concepts. And we can either use concepts to separate ourselves from others and the world, or we can use them to come closer to the truth of our mystical nature, though in this latter case we leave them behind in the end.
The choice is always ours.
Well I suppose then our president has a very special Christian love for our enemies; he's allowing them, through the Pentagon, to be killed every day. Sanctioned mass murder is okay, but build a little mosque, threaten to burn a few Qurans and we end up with a lot of hypocritical woo from secularists and faith-heads.
Good news.... but.
Better news, which people should be protesting more over (because this provokes violence more than fairytale book burning) would be if our government called off our troops in Afghanistan. They make pastor Jones look like a piker. They're not burning Qurans over there, they're burning PEOPLE.
