Israeli Planes and Helicopters Bomb Gaza Targets
Israeli planes and helicopters carried out at least seven missile attacks on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Friday, causing damage and slightly wounding two children, Palestinian witnesses and officials said.

They said four air strikes took place in open areas near the central town of Khan Younis, the site of a deadly clash last week between Israeli troops and Palestinian gunmen.
Two caravans were destroyed there in Friday's attack but there were no casualties, officials said.
A fifth missile hit a cheese factory in Gaza City, setting it on fire, witnesses and Hamas officials said. Hospital officials said two children were injured by flying debris.
Helicopters struck twice in the central refugee camp of Nusseirat, destroying a metal foundry. There were no casualties.
An Israeli military spokesman declined immediate comment.
Late on Thursday, a Palestinian short-range rocket landed in Israel, causing no casualties, the military said. There was no claim of responsibility.

How do we stop this monstrous behavior? It's just sickening to watch the Israel government keep up these atrocities. It's hard to know what to do, and one feels one should do something..................
There is nothing we can do. Israel has the backing of the most powerful nation on earth - America, my country. Too many Americans have been hoodwinked into thinking that all Muslims are terrorists, want the destruction of Israel and need to eliminated. Those of us who stand up are being labeled "terrorist supporters", "anti-Semitic" or "unpatriotic". Peace groups stand by helpless as their protests are ignored.

And is there really any evidence that those attacks are being launched by the Palestinians? Or is that claim just as full of crap as the claims that Gaza is not under the thumb of the Israeli military? This series of attacks has been planned for months, it will escalate into another invasion/blood bath. Yet more people around the world will condemn the Israeli gov't for the crime against humanity, and the governments who could actually do something about the ongoing ethnic cleansing will act as decisively as they did during the Rwandan Genocide. Of course some governments will send Israel more arms and ammo for 'testing'...

Every time there is a story about Israel, whether it is an attack against Hamas, who writers are loathe to call a terrorist group, or it is building apartments in Israel's own section of Jerusalem, or it is any innocuous mention of Israel, there are an army of anti Israel rhetoric.
I read nothing in the few comments that would indicate that it was not OK to send Missile strikes from Gaza to Israel. They give an excuse that Israel is this or that, but not one says it is a provocation and Israel has every right to defend. The Arab view is just what Israel does wrong and never a serious call for negotiation. So the fighting will continue year after year.
And if Israel does defend, it is too strong, it should be measured. That is the Arab cry. As though the car bombers, the roadside bombers are not an overkill.
So the U.N. will vote sanctions and Israel will ignore them and the killing will continue, until both sides decide to sit down and negotiate in good will without the U.S. and without other countries involved.

As for Israel's own section of Jerusalem, whatever that is it doesn't include East Jerusalem. Actually it doesn't include any part of Palestine. What's going to happen now is that the American people, made aware by General David Petreaus and other top Pentagon brass that Israel's intransigence vis a vis a peace settlement, not only is why they hate us, it's endangering our soldiers in Afghanistan (as well being a threat to national security), are going to demand that our government trash its special relationship with Israel, whereupon, Jewish occupier and occupied Palestinian will sit down together and work things out based on one equals one with liberty and justice for all. There can be no justice, of course, unless the right to return is honored.

I questioned who fired those missiles, it seems quite convenient to me that they were fired after the controversy over building more settlements on occupied land brewed up. Moreover there have been reports on CD which indicated that the Israeli Government has been planning another 'operation cast lead', the original articles were published in Hareez (sp?). The fact that the missiles were fired is not in dispute, nor is the fact that shooting missiles at civilians is certainly not an OK thing to do. However, there is no proof that these missiles were indeed fired by terrorists. One would think that if you're acting on behalf of a terrorist group you're going to use weapons that actually hit the target and kill more than the odd foreign worker.

Yes, but who is really doing the provoking here? Israel has occupied the Palestinian lands for the last forty years. The peace talks are and have been nothing more than a sham, to be sure there has been intransigence on the side of the Palestinians, but in the end it's always been the Israelis who've been the more powerful side. And from what I've seen and read, I see little evidence that the stronger side in this conflict wants to bring it to an end. Indeed, given the actions of the Israeli government (and backed up by the US government) they seem to want to escalate the conflict to embroil the entire Mideast in a war over Iran. Israel has won every war it's ever fought, I'm beginning to suspect that their leadership has fallen victim to the old concept of 'victory' disease, by which I mean they cannot conceive of losing a war and have no problem in continuing to fight them.

Well, lets talk about other countries that have had to deal with car-bombs, or other acts of terror, why don't we? Great Britain and Ireland had a great many decades of that same issue, where the weaker side would detonate bombs all over England and in Northern Ireland. But I can't recall any large scale military operation like 'operation cast lead' being carried out in Northern Ireland. Certainly not one that saw over 1400 people killed, most of whom were women and children. Of course in that conflict the opinion of the USA and its government was firmly on the side of the Irish, the political wing of the IRA was welcomed by many US politicians during the 'troubles'. I don't think the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland would have been solved were it not for other nations sending people to help deal with the issue. If it were left to the British government and the IRA to solve the 'troubles' there'd still be bombs popping off every week to this bloody day in that part of the world.
In Lebanon , the Government has come across missiles aimed towards Israel and set on timers. It more then a little likely these missiles put in place by the Israelis themselves. There simply no logical reason that had these been set up by Hizbollah , that they would have not fired them "live" rather then use TIMERS.
When Israel atacked Lebanon they claimed Hizbollah would shoot and scoot, that is fire rockets and then hide before the Israelis able to pinpoint where they were coming from.
It simply not logical that a Hizbollah would not use they same tactics were they interested in sending missiles into Israel.
I suspect much the same happens in Gaza.

Goodness, you really need to read up on the history of the 300 year long British occupation of northern Ireland, not to mention their 700 years of terror in all of Ireland. What they did over the years makes Cast Lead seem like a Sunday school picnic. They carried out extensive and extremely violent long-term military operations. And well over a million Irish starved to death because the British took their food and exported it for profit (Ireland exported food all through the potato famine).
And just since Israel was founded the British have been involved in several large scale massacres around the world, each infinitely larger than anything the Israelis have done. Over a million killed in Malaysia during 40s and 50s, over a million in Kenya during the 50s, and over a million in Iraq just recently. And those are just the major ones.

I am actually familiar with it. I thought I was clearly referring to the modern era, since the 1920s, which is about as long as the Zionists were bombing people in Israel and the former Palestine. It should have been clear that I was referring to that as I mentioned NORTHERN Ireland, which has only existed since the 1920s.
The potato famine wasn't caused by the English, and while not doing anything to help is not a very nice thing, it's not quite the same thing as actively shooting people.

The "Missiles" and "rockets" fired at Israel cannot be rightly called by those names. These names for the "weapons" of the Practically Defenseless Palestinians (Gazans) are not things that can be aimed at targets nor are they powerful enough to cause much damage or death--hardly more than rocks hurled by kids at a an M-1 Abrams tank. Remember that the Gazans are up against F-14 jets, M-1's, and Apache helicopters with satellite-guided real missiles.
What can we do?
Remember Rachel Corrie. If thousands of Americans stood in front of the Israeli bulldozers, or if a few prominent world figures stood in front of the bulldozers, they'd stop.
Would Israelis kill the Pope? Would the Israelis run over rock stars? Wish we had a pope or a rock star with the guts of Gandhi or Rachel. How can we stand for the exaggeration that Israel is "giving" large amounts of water, food, medicine, and money (not to mention passports) to the Gazans? Saturnalia, it appears that you do not really understand the legal definition of “genocide”so here are some major points from the Convention:

Good Friday bombing of helpless Muslim civilians. A similar attack happened in 1939, when Mussolini bombed Albania on Good Friday. My father many times told me that the newsreels of Italian bishops blessing the bombers before take-off caused him to resign from the Catholic Church. Apparently, we must kill them there so they will not stable their camels in our back yards. Apparently, I should be able to shoot my neighbor and his family and burn down his house because the barking of his dog at my cat, when it goes into his yard, annoys me. The rationalization makes about as much sense.
