US May Seek More Data on People Flying in From EU
WASHINGTON - US officials may seek to expand and widen agreements that demand that airlines supply sensitive data on passengers arriving from Europe, according to a senior Homeland Security official.
The plan, if pursued, could go beyond an existing deal with the European Union that allows trans-Atlantic airlines transfer credit card, e-mail addresses, passport, travel itineraries and other data belonging to European passengers to US officials.

Rand Beers, who heads the Department of Homeland Security's protection division, said preliminary discussions had begun with the Spanish government to gauge the possibilities of a fresh pan-European deal.
"Obviously one of the things that we are looking at is whether or not it might be more appropriate to have a overarching or umbrella agreement with the European Union," Beers said.
"We still have a considerable way to go in terms of the exchange of data between ourselves and our European allies."
Beers is a key adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, whom he recently accompanied on a visit to Ireland, Britain, Portugal and Spain.
In Madrid, Napolitano formalized a pilot program that identifies high-risk travelers before they board aircraft bound for the United States.
The project has stopped 10 terrorist suspects in just over a year, according to DHS figures.
In Lisbon a deal was signed on exchanging biometric and biographic data, which is also seen as a possible prototype for future Europe-wide deals.
However any move to transfer more information is likely to be met by stiff resistance in Europe, which only narrowly passed the current agreement amid bitter opposition.
Members of the European Parliament and some EU member states objected to having to provide information such as requests for kosher or halal meals, which, they argued, promoted religious profiling.
Beers defended the system, saying that it warns US authorities if there are individuals preparing to enter the country that need further examination.
He also indicated that future agreements could look beyond Europe. "That is another area that we are looking at," he told AFP.

I would be very interested to know if the 10 turned out to be terrorists or just the same old bullshit statistics that these fascist big brothers bandy about. I could well imagine they were writers and speakers rather than bombers and killers. This pre-emptive profiling makes us all “suspected” whatever.
If the HLS really wants to stop terrorism they should start by getting the Zionists out of the US administration, prosecuting US war criminals, releasing or charging all Guantanamo detainees, getting all US troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and investigating and prosecuting those responsible for the controlled demolition of the WTC buildings 1,2, and 7, and the missile attack on the Pentagon in on 9-11-01
Stop using this false flag terrorist myth to justify “big brother” control in a NWO. We already know what the EU has in store, and its no wander the US fascist machine wants to “share”.
Enough!
Writing as someone whom routinely fly's in and out of the USA, I have seen some rather ludicrous manifestations of Homeland Security's dictates play out in airports across the globe where all that is accomplished is burdening the passengers and the unlucky staff who have to carry them out (which might exactly be the point of these exercises).
Considering how difficult it was for the current rules to be put into place by the EU, expanded hassle authority is a real stretch. And the EU has every right to be wary, as the poorly paid, non-union workers & their idiot supervisors whom staff Homeland Security have not exactly distinguished themselves since their Orwellian agency was established by Dubya, Cheney, & Co.
I guess you have not flown from Dublin or Shannon, Ireland......Guess what?
The United States Border is now across the Atlantic Ocean....In both airports a sign reads, "Welcome to the United States" and below are U.S Customs Agents checking your U.S. Passport and fingerprinting (10 fingers) everyone else's hands and then doing a digital photograph of everybody that is not a U.S. citizen......It does not matter if you are 85 years old....
So, What are we doing expanding into Ireland?
The reality is that the 9/11 terrorists who came from Saudi Arabia were given their visas by the CIA and a state department official quit because of that.
Homeland Security was created to keep the American People on edge and afraid....Excuse me, they stopped 10 terrorists from entering the U.S....Can you name them and what they were arrested for ????? Remember the terrorists that shut Heathrow Airport down and created our: No liquid rules! They had no tickets, no passports, no chemicals, and they were all released....but, we still have those liquid rules.
It is just "Big Brother" wanting to be able to get into everyone's accounts except the accounts of "The Power Elite".....Have you noticed that all the boys with their money hidden in accounts outside the United States, still have their money outside the United States and nobody can investigate those accounts......
The DHS just vants to know vere you 'ave been. If you're not "dirty Communist," vy would you object. This is about "defending " our "freedom" to be slaves for the rich and super rich white man and his system. Ve "must obey" and "do" as ve are "told."
