ARUSHA, Tanzania - The former prefect of Rwandan capital Kigali was Tuesday sentenced to life for genocide-related crimes by the UN-backed war crimes court trying masterminds of the country's 1994 massacre.

"Renzaho played an important part in connection with the commencement and cessation of the operation," said chief judge Erik Mose, referring to the church massacre.
"Over 100 Tutsi refugees were killed. He was also involved in the removal of bodies, he said, adding that the accused "made remarks encouraging the sexual abuse of (Tutsi) women".
"The chamber sentences Tharcisse Renzaho to a single sentence of life imprisonment," Mose said.
The UN estimates that Hutu extremists killed some 800,000 people, mainly minority Tutsis and moderate Hutus, during the 100-day genocide.

UN backed courts can only indict African, Asian and Latin American leaders. Because Eeropean and American leaders enjoy EXCEPTIONAL STATUS.
The US understood the problem as early as 1983 when they suspended aid to Rwanda for human rights abuses.
In 1982, several women, Hutu and Tutsis were picked up by state security, thrown in jail and raped in front of the entire prison population.
Their crime - they were working with US agencies that were assisting refugees. They were among the first women university graduates in Rwanda; one was the daughter of an ex Tutsi minister. They had done nothing worng.
I can understand nothing being done under Reagan. The total indifference by the Clinton administration should be questioned - especailly when the geneocide occurred.
Clinton is now parading himself as an African savior - He is one the most most hypocritical bags of shit to ever lay claim to assisting African through his totally bogus foundation - He should be on trial as well.
Bush actually did more for Africa than Clinton. Nothing is better than total indifference in the face of genocide.
