GOP Lawmakers Outnumber Democratic Lawmakers 2 To 1 In Stimulus Debate On Cable News
Think Progress is reporting today:
As Media Matters has documented, during the Bush administration, the media consistently allowed conservatives to dominate their shows, booking them as guests far more often than progressives. The rationale was that Republicans were "in power."
It appears that old habits die hard. Even though President Obama and his team are in control of the executive branch and Democrats are in the majority in Congress, the cable networks are still turning more often to Republicans and allowing them to set the agenda on major issues, most recently on the debate over the economic recovery package.
On Sunday, conservatives began an all-out assault on President Obama's economic recovery plan, with House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) both announcing that they would vote against the plan as it stood. Despite Obama's efforts at good faith outreach, congressional conservatives have continued to attack the stimulus plan with a series of false and disingenuous arguments.
The media have been aiding their efforts. In a new analysis, ThinkProgress has found that the five cable news networks - CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Fox Business and CNBC - have hosted more Republican lawmakers to discuss the plan than Democrats by a 2 to 1 ratio this week:

Show AllI was watching C-SPAN one moring recently and one of the repugs was on. When that segment was open to callers, I noted the moderator kept disengaging the dem or indy lines - he'd say dem line, city, and you're on, but then I'd hear a click, and he'd go on to the next, which happened to be a repug, so it was mostly them being heard. Other moderators say the "you're on" thing several times before clicking another line on.
The repugs have pretty much said they'd declared war after the election, and it doesn't matter where or what they are, they're a repug cyborg first, and they'll do whatever is in their individual power to do.
I'm beginning to feel like I'm in a story from Star Trek where we mere thinking, feeling mortals are trying to prepare for battle, and the in-lock-step, one mind-controlled cyborgs are breaching the hulls of the Enterprise.
The most egregious myth: the MSM is liberal! This proves it again. When the Republicans are the minority party, and only popular with the wealthy and not the average American, as the mandate given to President Obama's election just showed, the whore press reveals their conservative bias. One has to wonder, how long the canard of the liberal media will be swallowed by most Americans! Who owns the MSM? For the most part, it is wealthy, conservatives that want to protect their vested interests, while pretending to be fair and balanced.
Colin Powell's boy, Michael, fixed this up for us when he merged all the propaganda outlets into the Rupertized Reich.
I refuse to use cable and the neo-digital TV.
It's better to be un-informed than mis-informed or just plain lied to.
Humbaba: Mis-informed is right on! The average Joe six pack thinks he is being informed, when he is really being mis-informed and even some intelligent people do not realize that they are being brainwashed by the MSM by their nefarious and excessively, specious, subtle, reporting that is intended to mislead.

John McCain is a sore loser, I would expect no less
John Boehner is grooming himself for something Bigger - Perhaps a John Boehner/Sarah Palin ticket in 2012 LOL
But does that give Democrats the right or for that matter any excuse to cave in ? NO !
Lest we forget, the Ds are to the Rs as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters---both necessary to sustain the illusion that a legitimate contest is taking place, the outcome of which isn't predetermined.
The reason the MSM does this is because the Robotic party is compassionate, conservative, Christian, patriotic, generous (to the rich), and hard-working.
Other good attributes__ against gun control, all abortions, birth control, Social Security, Medicare, equal rights, fair taxation, co-operation.
For__endless war, multi-million dollar salaries for execs, religion mixed into schools and government, secrecy, class warfare.
Cosidering how wonderful they are, it is no wonder they get all the attention.
The Democrats cannon just sit back and blame the Corporate Media, although it is horrible as we know.
I knew that Republican majorities would be louder than Democratic majorities. Anyone who saw the quiet dem majority of the last two years or the earlier Dem majorities of recent era knew this. They are paid to keep quiet and then pacify their "base" with snacks for the "alternative (its not) media" which is not because it doesnt provide a mediated common denominator for the body politic to discuss.
Yes its the medias fault but also their partner in crime Silent Harry and the Corporate Democrats. The Dems should be completely dominating the debate right now. They are not because they are paid to make Nixon seem like a wild eyed leftist in comparison.
