Imagine: Banning All Donald Trumps

With the savage and incoherent Trump ratcheting up his racist bile by proposing to ban Muslims - in blissfully ignorant irony, calling for vigilance on "the extraordinary influx of hatred and danger coming into our country" - consider the inspired symbolic move by a Scottish activist to, instead, ban Trump. In her now-pending petition, Suzanne Kelly, who led the 2013 fight by environmentalists to block Trump's construction of an uber-golf course in Scotland, argues that Trump should be barred from the U.K. "for his continued, unrepentant hate speech and unacceptable behavior (that) foments racial, religious and nationalistic intolerance." It goes on to note, accurately, "The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. This same principle should apply to Donald J Trump. We cannot see how the United Kingdom can condone his entry to the country when many people have been barred for less."

Thinking ahead to a nightmarish but slightly possible worst case scenario, other U.K lawmakers have also moved to  preemptively curtail Trump's access to nuclear weapons if, God and Bernie help us, he ever came to power. Scottish National Party defense head Brendan O’Hara is spearheading an effort to end the U.K.’s nuclear missile program, arguing it isn't as independent as it would need to be to ensure against the unthinkable:“In reality, it will be an American commander-in-chief who will ultimately decide, and in 18 months time that commander-in-chief could be President Donald Trump.” Also in reality, lest we forget, Trump's GOP fellow-travelers are almost as hapless and bigoted: Jeb! wants to let only Christian refugees in, Cruz wants to ban bad Muslims if he can figure out who they are, Carson and Kasich want to uphold "Judeo-Christian values" that coincidentally exclude anyone else, etc. They and their ugly brand of incitement must be unceasingly called out for what it is. In Trump's latest divisive rant, he blathers about hatred that "is beyond comprehension" and "the dangerous threat it poses." Earth to Trump and his supporters: Pot/kettle.
