Fool Me Once: Jeb Bush Would've Invaded Iraq Just Like His Big Bro Who Did Such A Great Job, Remember?
Improbably, the GOP presidential clown car gets ever more crowded and deranged, with up to 17 candidates, each more wing-nutty than the last, expected to announce. For starters, pretty much all of them reject climate change, evolution, and/or science altogether, and things go downhill from there. Mike 'God, Guns, Grits and Gravy' Huckabee has sworn to "conquer" ISIS as well as all those commies "criminalizing Christianity" and "killing 55 million babies" through abortion. Ben Carson has said Obamacare is worse than slavery and prison turns men gay. Carly Fiorina laid off 30,000 people before being fired from Hewlett-Packard; she was evidently smart enough to get a $20 million golden parachute, but not to register the domain carlyfiorina.org. Already stuffed into this nightmare assemblage are also Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, likely soon to be joined by the soulless likes of Walker and Jindall and Bush oh my.
Given the horrific legacy of George W., someone seems to have instructed Jeb Bush to pointedly note on more than one occasion that, "I am my own man, and my views are shaped by my own thinking and my own experiences.” So yeah it totally makes sense that when asked recently who guides him on foreign policy, he said what we need to know is that "who I listen to for advice" is George W., because sure why not, never mind that little most deadly foreign policy debacle in recent memory or perhaps ever, 'cause bros forever huh? Unfrigginbelievable. Or as a Democratic spokesperson put it, "The Jeb Bush Doctrine is to put blinders on to the failures of the past, cheerlead go-it-alone diplomacy and embrace a shoot-first, talk-later foreign policy." And in a truly mindblowing revision of history during a Fox interview airing tonight, Jeb also said he would have authorized the Iraq invasion "confronted with the intelligence that (George) got," seemingly oblivious of the mountain of evidence the war was in fact based not on intelligence, even the flawed variety, but on an amoral administration willing to cherry-pick and manipulate that intelligence - that "intelligence was misused publicly to justify decisions already made," that the administration “repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when in reality it was unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even non-existent” and created false links between Iraq and al Qaeda” by setting up "a “whole new interpretation because they didn’t like the answers” the intelligence community was giving them. In other words, they lied, and lied again. "Each president," Jeb has proclaimed, "learns from those who came before." How terrifying he hasn't learned jackshit, except to lie. Who are these people?
