CPAC is done; the denizens of the gonzo edge of the world have gone home to their fearful caves. The highlights as reported in the press: Paul Ryan told a story about a boy who chose a brown bag lunch over a free school meal to show that Democrats offer a "full stomach and an empty soul," a story it turns out he stole from someone who heard it from someone who heard it from someone else; Wayne LaPierre said that in an uncertain world full of "terrorists...home invaders, drug cartels, carjackers, knockout gamers and rapers, and haters and campus killers, and airport killers, shopping mall killers, and killers who scheme to destroy our country with massive storms of violence against our power grids, or vicious waves of chemicals or disease that could collapse our society that sustains us all...there is no greater freedom than the right to survive and protect our families with all the rifles, shotguns and handguns we want"; the members of Tradition, Family and Property protested the (muted) presence of GOProud - oxymoron alert: gay conservatives - by charging that they and their rainbow-colored beaver "undermine the dreams of millions of God-fearing Americans"; a minority outreach panel spoke to an empty room because, they charged, the other guys give out more "goodies"; everyone loved Rand Paul, who quoted Pink Floyd and later said his Ukraine foreign policy would be to drill for oil "in every possible conceivable place" ; and they sorta loved Sarah Palin, in Charles Pierce's words the "living representation of the infantilization of American politics, a poisonous Grimm Sister telling toxic fairy tales to audiences drunk on fear and hate." Pierce has much more on these people who are, to many of the rest of us, part comic relief and part feverish nightmare, but who nonetheless are out there, which means at least some attention must be paid.

e-sex “marriage,” thus undermining the votes and dreams of millions of God-fearing Americans?

How can GOProud consider itself conservative when it directly opposes the work of social conservative activists and contributes to America’s moral ruin, through the weakening of the family – the first and fundamental building block of society?
