BP Says Enough With the Guilt, We Want To Make Even Bigger Piles of Money
In the official name of seeking "closure" - and the unofficial name of singular chutzpah and their pushback against being held accountable for its crimes - BP has sued the EPA to reopen federal new oil and gas leases to them. Evidently fed up with paying fines for that little matter of the country's worst oil disaster, BP called the EPA suspension “inappropriate and unjustified as a matter of law and policy” - that, despite the EPA citing the company's longtime “lack of business integrity,” its multiple convictions for a "corporate culture of noncompliance," its continuing to hold more leases in the Gulf of Mexico than any other company, including $1.2 billion worth of contracts with the U.S. government, giving them $2.7 billion in quarterly profits, which is apparently not enough. Banksy, who installed this great surreal BP ride at Brighton Beach a couple of years ago, is not happy.
