Arabs With Altitude: Flying the Palestinian Flag In Seemingly Unlikely Places
Jubilant residents of South Paterson, N.J. - aka “Little Ramallah” - raised a Palestinian flag at City Hall this weekend, reportedly the first time the flag has flown over an American city. The event honoring Palestinian-American Day came a day after Palestinian-American Raed Zidan became the first Palestinian to reach the summit of Mt. Everest - part of a quartet calling itself "Arabs with Altitude," including the first Saudi Arabian woman, who are raising money for Nepali education. At the summit, Zidan erected a Palestinian flag and dedicated his achievement to all Palestinians, especially those "languishing in Israeli parisons." Zidan had done the same on an earlier climb to Mt. Vinson; powerful video.
