Manning Testimony: An Overdue Sliver of Sunlight
Citing the wish that "the voice of this generation's most prolific whistleblower can be heard—literally—by the world," the Freedom of the Press Foundation has leaked and published the full audio recording of Bradley Manning’s testimony to a military court about his motivations for leaking over 700,000 government documents to WikiLeaks. In a time when the extent and reach of U.S. government secrecy is unprecedented, they argue, "the courtrooms of America should be open to the public, so they can see and hear what is being done in their name."
"I am the type of person who always wants to figure out how things work," says Manning in the recording, "and as an analyst this always means I want to figure out the truth."
