I Have No One Now

Over Chicago's carnage-filled weekend, guns wounded six people and killed seven, including the last of Shirley Chambers' four children, who have now all been gunned down. Friends say Ronnie Chambers, 33, who was shot in the head while sitting in a car, was just starting to get his life together after a hardscrabble past. He had crucifix tattoos on his forearms honoring his three dead siblings - Carlos, killed in 1995, and Jerome and LaToya, killed three months apart in 2000. Oh man.
"They say you can't outrun death, but I can try to dodge it," Ronnie said in a 2000 newspaper interview. "I don't even try to live day by day anymore; it's more like second by second."
