Five Broken Cameras

Small good news of the day: An Oscar nomination for the Israeli/Palestinian documentary Five Broken Cameras, which has been hailed as "a powerful act of witnessing." It tells the deeply personal and political story of Bil'in's resistance to the Separation Wall through the smashing of Palestinian farmer and filmmaker Emad Burnat's cameras through five years of protests, actions, jailings and IDF incursions. Interview with Democracy Now's Amy Goodman. Also nominated was the Israeli "The Gatekeepers," profiling former IDF officials critical of the Occupation. Will anyone listen and look a bit more closely? Maybe.
"When something happens, my instinct is to film it." - Burnat
