Fox Book-Hawking Guest Says Murdered Newtown Children Are All in Heaven So Hope Is Not Lost

by Abby Zimet

For anyone who still thinks Fox News is a news show: Neurosurgeon Eben Alexander, who has written a book called Proof of Heaven about his ostensible trip to Heaven while in a coma, told his Fox hosts that the Newtown victims were “welcomed into comfort and love beyond our human understanding" and thus their unimaginably grief-stricken families “can know that those precious souls are cherished and cared for right now.” Gretchen Carlson wept. Then she asked if the children in heaven will remember what happened to them. Yes, an appropriately sober Alexander said, but they will "feel the love and cherishing of being back there." Everyone nodded, feeling better. Listen: We all take comfort where we can, and we all have the right to believe what we believe, and God knows those families deserve every sliver of hope and solace and support they can garner from whatever source they can find. But for Fox to inflict the glib, self-serving certainty of a prime-time stranger on them in their dark season of grief and allow him in all well-meaning but ignorant arrogance to breezily tell them what to feel? No. And no.
