Joe, Finally, on "The Battle We Now Must Fight"
In a dramatic turnaround, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, a self-described "conservative Republican" and longtime gun rights advocate, said the Newtown massacre "changed everything" and made his past beliefs "no longer relevant to the future that I want." In a powerful, 10-minute monologue, he argued politicians "can no longer be allowed to defend the status quo." More, admittedly horrific reasons why that's so from The Rude Pundit, who recalls getting mugged. "When I had that gun pointed in my face all those years ago, I didn't think, 'Damn, I wish I had a gun, too.' I didn't think, 'Damn, I wish someone else with a gun would come along and save me.' I thought, 'Damn, I wish he didn't have a gun.'"
"Our Bill of Rights does not guarantee gun manufacturers the absolute right to sell military-style, high-caliber, semi-automatic combat assault rifles with high-capacity magazines to whoever the hell they want."
