Because Nothing Says America Like the KKK and Their Cyclops Cleaning Up the Doggone Roads

by Abby Zimet

Curtis Compton, April Hanson and her husband Harley Hanson perform a traditional Klan salute along the portion of highway they wanted to "adopt."

Georgia officials have rejected a request from the International Keystone Knights/Cops of the KKK to "adopt" a one-mile stretch of highway so they could get official state recognition for cleaning litter from the road as the civic-minded “good, decent Christian Americans" they are except for that little matter of not much liking anyone brown or black or Jewish and lynching and hanging a few of the people with those unfortunate attributes. Critics had argued the state would be "complicit" in the rebranding effort of what is in truth a “domestic terrorist group.” (As to the appropriateness of the so-called "Adopt-A-Highway" name: As an adoptive mom, I won't even go there.) The rejection by the state, said the KKK, was "saddening."

From Harley Hanson, the KKK Exalted Cyclops who filed the application: “We just want to clean up the doggone road. We’re not going to be out there in robes.”
