Buying A Home While Black

Just in case you inexplicably thought we'd somehow successfully achieved a post-racial America: A Georgia couple - he's black, she's white - were confronted by gun-toting neighbors, arrested for prowling, and thrown in jail for the night when they tried to get into the house they'd just bought. Jean Kalonji, an immigrant from the Congo, said it all felt too familiar.
“There, they put me down with the gun to my head, and come here, the same.”
