Tennessee's Monkey Bill: Marching Backwards As Fast As We Can

Having narrowly escaped falling off the edge of the earth, Tennessee's creationism-happy Senate has approved the so-called monkey bill, allowing teachers to discuss the "strengths" and "weaknesses" of "controversial" topics like "evolution," as well as "global warming," in order to help their students "improve their thinking skills" and realize once and for all that the miraculous earth was shaped with a magical touch of a godly finger, even though a gazillion scientific and legal experts say the bill is "unnecessary, anti-scientific, and very likely unconstitutional." Also dumb. State legislators are also busy enacting other useful bills, such as allowing the Ten Commandments to be displayed on public buildings, banning the word and concept "gay" and telling girl athletes what they can and can't wear, for which acts we and the Lord thank them. Sort of.

Show AllGood to see a little common sense on this board. Everyone knows the Flying Spaghetti Monster, bless his noodly goodness, made all of creation, including the lesser gods. May his meatballs of good fortune fall upon you.
I guess that if that's your response to a simple question in class, you'd never make it as a science teacher in Tennessee, or anywhere else.
I would be happy to educate the heathens in Tennessee about the Flying Spaghetti Monster. After all, we're all the same under the sauce.
And so ends any hope of rational response about permission in Tennessee high schools to ask questions regarding evolution.
Derby Lad: You've posted against abortions and now you're against evolution. How do you feel about women having the vote? What about women priests? Contraception?
Do you differ from Catholic doctrine in any way?
Why do you want to change the subject? The topic here is permission in Tennessee schools for students to question the theory of evolution.... which I think is a good thing.
However, there are many here who disagree, and when I ask a simple question, all I get from the supposed scientists here, is a lot of personal abuse and a load of crap. Let's hope that our school children fare much better and get rational answers.
Gosh Derby Lad, seems you don't like answering questions.
I don't have any answers. I'm just asking a simple question about evolution and hoping for a sensible answer. Looks like I'm not going to get one.
Dorky Lad sez: "I don't have any answers."
So you don't know how you feel about contraception? You don't know if you differ from catholic doctrine in any way?
Maybe you should talk to yourself more.
I'm not opposed to the "Thou shalt not kill" one being emphasized. Of course that seem to be the one they ignore. I've had many RW people tell me that God didn't actually mean that one. Apparently, he meant - unless the person doesn't look or think like you.
