Legendary Steadfastness

Incredibly - though perhaps inevitably given the arc of history - Israel has agreed to release in April Palestinian hunger striker Khader Adnan, who will end his 66-day strike. More here and here on what it means to Palestinians, especially the over 750,000 held in Israeli jails since 1967, and the 4,500 currently held. Video here of widespread protests for Adnan the West rarely sees. Right-wing members of Israel's Likud party are already charging the deal sets a dangerous precedent that "renders the Israeli values system meaningless,” implying that humanity, dignity, equity and compromise have no place in Israeli politics. If so, we hope he's right.

Show AllEveryone's values are defined by what they will tolerate when it is done to others.
Why do you tolerate it when it's done to the Palestinians?
Were Albert Einstein alive he would use the fascist and terrorist with no qualification in reference to the current Israeli government (prime minister and officials serving him). Einstein used such reference to Menacham Begin, who was much less far to the right as did other prominent US Jews including Hannah Arendt. This was in the early 1950s. They showed what courage is made of. Bless them forever. May we all have their courage.

"the Israeli values system.."
Israeli values?? Genocide, war crimes, apartheid, and human rights violations? Pfft. Have no fear, Israel - your "values" are perfectly intact.
Not to be negative or anything, but he was arrested on Dec 17, sentenced to 4 months Administrative Detention and was scheduled to be released on April 17th or there abouts. Now after a victorious 66 day hunger strike, Israel has agreed to cave and release him on... drumroll... April 17th... Seems like his strike had zero meaning.
Yes, but on April 17 Israel could have "extended" his "detention". And when that "extension" was up, Israel could have again "extended" his "detention". And when that "extension" was up... [ad nauseam]
See "The Trial" by Franz Kafka! - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trial
Israel flinched.
"Activities that threaten regional security." That's what they said they arrested him for. The Israelis declined to elaborate what those activities were.
So I guess they just picked him up because he was there...but that's what you get to do in an occupation.
Nothing new here. Who are they going to arrest tommorow? Somebody whose activities threaten the "security" of the region. Details of such activities will not be made public, because it's national security.
How to threaten the security of the system: be in a bit too happy a mood. Think something they don't want you to think. Don't look defeated.Laugh at them.
