If You're Diabetic, You Might Want to Steer Clear of Nevada, Also the Police

The city council of Henderson, Nev. has approved a settlement of $158,500 after police brutally beat a man in diabetic shock after they stopped him for what they thought was drunken driving. Video shows five officers screaming at, pulling guns on and subduing Adam Greene as a sixth kicks him hard enough to break several ribs. Then they figured out he was ill. Who is it these guys work for again?
“Stop resisting motherf****r! Stop resisting motherf****r!” - one of the guys hired to serve and protect, as Greene lay on the ground.

Show AllThese are the sick bastards that our communities are hiring these days to be cops. It's a good bet that many are veterans with all kinds of psych problems from their war experiences. Others, like the kicker, who should be jailed for his actions, are either that, or they are sick individuals who are attracted to the job of cop, and get hired because nobody really cares that they are twisted.
We live in a militarized state, and our police are treating the public the same way that our troops treat the civilians in the countries we are occupying, like Iraq and Afghanistan.
We ignore this kind of outrage at all of our peril.

Totally agreed!
The amount of taxpayers' money the US Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) is handing US police departments to buy more weapons would feed and house every homeless American.
You have to be a "sick bastard" to even want to be a cop.
The dysfunctional gravitate towards crime, the military, or cop as a career choice-
Thank you for the link, AND for the straight talk. Always remember, if it's wearing blue and it's mouth is moving, it's LYYYYING!!
Really, my friend carries an identity tag that reads, I'm not drunk I'm a diabetic. Low blood sugar can easily be mistaken as someone that has been drinking. It can be life threatening. This was outrageous, the settlement should have been much higher because that man could have died as a result of that treatment.
Police are poorly trained for medical emergencies, and those guys need remedial first aid over, and over again.
I hope those cops feel like shit about what they done for the rest of their lives.
I don't think a man who would start kicking another person who is down, HAS a conscience.
These men should not be in a position of ever dealing with the public again. And they belong in jail for assault. Of course they will get off - further proving why we should not trust cops - now that we know this is their common behavior. I used to defend them - then I saw too many occupy videos where whole police departments attacked unarmed and passive civilians, and realized they really are the thugs we should be worried about.
The offending cops have probably been put on "administrative leave, with pay".
The last part of the tape, with some cop laughing, is very chilling!
The part when the pig asks the if anyone got hurt while beating the guy was cute, too.
I don't think a man who would start kicking another person who is down, HAS a conscience.
Sundome: He doesn't have any balls, either! These people are nothing but schoolyard bullies.
They need to be put on trial, and not simply pay off their *victim* while trying to sweep this outrage under the rug.
We called the cops pigs during the 60s until we realized that we were being disrespectful to the four legged pigs.
In Iraq when confronted by the relatives of people they had killed, in many cases the US Army would hand out large sums of cash, and move on to the next action. Cash makes it all OK. I wonder how much cash NORTHCOM has on hand for it's future US American victims? Notice he didn't represent a threat, he failed to respond properly to a police command.
Something just like this happened in the last year or so right here in my Cincinnati.
Someone passsed out in diabetic shock; was tazed three time in the neck then beaten. All while unconscious.
The lesson in Cincinnati; the cop got in legal trouble. The Sherrif who arrived to the scene pressed charges against the officer and the victim declined to do so.
Guess what? I've heard this story before, about someone in my own neighborhood, (except that it was epilepsy.)
These guys are NOT trained to be "peace officers" properly, and should never be allowed to carry/use weapons as a result. This is a widespread problem, across the board, in all law enforcement because they are completely, totally and purposely MIStrained in simple human relations. This goes all the way up to the chain of command, MISmanaging resources for MIStraining officers in the overwhelmingly disproportionate vital aspect of their jobs.
Also, only $159K for this? Are you kidding me? What are these law enforcement guys actually banksters, kit gloves and all?
A horrific part of this is that the victim "respects the police" and bears no ill will to the cops who did this to him - he says they have difficult jobs. And he adopts that attitude despite not only the assault and the two months of his recovery, but also despite the police department never even apologizing to him.
Because he knows that if he said otherwise there would be retaliation.
Caffeine isn't the issue. Cops would have chosen a different career if they were not sadistic power trippers.
Cops' motto is ALL OF THE AUTHORITY AND NONE OF THE ACCOUNTABILITY.
I lived in LV for almost 3 years and I'm telling you right now, Henderson P.D. are relatively tame compared to the scumbags in Metro. This would not even be "news" if it was the LVMPD in this story.
It takes 6(!) cops to beat and abuse one guy? Such great MEN these guys are. Why are cops SO often the most cowardly group in society? They are the ones with the guns, and WE are the ones who keep getting beaten up?
For the last 30 years, it's been the common thought that WE are the problem every time. It's NEVER the cops, no matter how many times they are caught on tape violating people's rights, making false arrests, and doing things that would land ANY of the rest of us in jail for a LONG time. They are taught that we are all against them, and now, thanks to actions like this, we ARE. Respect doesn't come from wearing the uniform, it comes from EARNING respect.
Cops need to be trained in something OTHER than being a bunch of pricks. All they have been trained in for the last several decades is to figure out more and more ways to abuse our rights and our persons. And they wonder why there is less and less trust between the cops and us all the time. I would say they have earned it.
Is an IQ test too much to ask before giving a gun and a badge to these stupid bastards? What the fuck is this? Stop hiring these mother ******ers, Did these stupid bastards get fired? Or did their superior buy them doughnuts and send them to the occupy protest?
No it's not too much to ask.
Indeed, it is required.
And if, as a potential cop YOSCORE TOO HIGH ON THE IQ TEST you will not be hired, and the courts will back up the police department's decision in an employment discrimination action.
That's right.
Too smart to be a cop.
The reasoning?
PDs are "a quasi-military organization" and too much noodle means hierarchy and command structure might be compromised.
Don't believe me? Look here(though there are numerous such cases in the various states: http://www.nytimes.com/1999/09/09/nyregion/metro-news-briefs-connecticut-judge-rules-that-police-can-bar-high-iq-scores.html
Cheers.
I remember seeing a frame-by-frame replay of the Rodney King beating. It was being run by an apologist for the police. After being kicked and beaten to near unconsciousness, the police spokesman said, referring to King "Now, you see right here: he is still not in the proper position".
About 2 weeks ago, I called 911 b/c a deadbeat room mate was drunk and attacking me. He was F'ed up but was trying to strangle me. He was charged with battery. The case is still ongoing. About 4 minutes after I called 911, The local police kicked in the door. (It wasn't even locked!). I became concerned b/c there was a woman passed out in my house when I returned from visiting a friend about 5 miles away. A forth person, Male, had fled the scene before the police arrived. He attempted to calm things down and get between me and the room mate. He failed! I called 911 but then hung up before I could even talk to the operator. They smashed my door frame to pieces. A friend put it back together with a nail gun.
The police treated me decently considering the circumstances. I was not charged. They had no idea what they were getting into after the 911 call. Answering 911 calls is a Dirty Job! Thanks for listening!
The cops are there to protect and serve. It's just not you that they are serving or protecting. Any delay (seconds) with a lawful police order is a crime and a violent threat to the Public Servant. You are just a citizen and you will comply immediately!
C=can O=order P=people. Do as you are told, you will follow orders!
Well, I live in Kingman AZ, about 90 miles from Henderson, and I AM diabetic. Guess I'd better re-think my trip to Costco! But you know, the very same thing could very well happen here in the enlightened state of Arizona. Think I'll get an I.D. tattoo. Hmmmm. Better yet, I'd better get a bracelet. Living in a fascist country is getting harder and harder!
From the streets of Haditha straight to your local p.d. without skipping a beat.
In my town just outside Washington DC, not exactly a cheap place to live, they hire cops at $ 39,000/year, that tells you the kind of guy they get, I'm pasting the job offer below.
Police Officer Candidate $39,790/A ($19.13/hr): Min. age 21; U.S.Citizen; H.S. Diploma or GED; vision correctable to 20/20; valid driver’s license; drug screen & background check with written exam and physical agility test at a later date for PO Candidates.
He, he, he, that's all you need, just to be a citizen and have a HS diploma or a GED.
.
It looks like this segment didn't make the "Cops" TV show. Please work to defund your local police departments. Refuse to vote for candidates that get endorsements from the police (a kind of kickback bribery).
Cops could do good (helping stray kittens from trees, for instance), but they mostly do bad. They haven't figured out what the Bill of Rights means yet, or they agree with George W. Bush that it's just "a god damned piece of paper." They spy on protesters (who aren't hiding anything) by going undercover or acting as agent provocateurs.
Maybe keep around an unarmed force that helps with traffic accidents, but that's about it. Take away their guns and counter-terror training.
Nazi fascist fucking pigs who should be in prison, & the diabetic dude should've gotten millions....
Unfucking believable! I'm a disabled veteran and a diabetic and I wonder what in God's name these sick fucks were thinking, not only during the stop but, AFTER they knew what they had done was done to a sick man! The cop with the glasses initiating the accosting and drawing on an unresponsive, non-aggressive and apparently unwanted or suspected civilian should be fired and charged with numerous offenses. The cop that kicked him should have been fired and jailed and sued individually. All the other officers should be suspended and retrained. The Trooper fired! And what fucking Lawyer represented this guy that he only got $158,500? They broke his ribs, and could have killed him not to mention the long term affects of diabetic shock upon the individual. Unfucking believable! I could almost be convinced that the cops actions were justified knowing what driver's under the influence are capable of but, what occurred afterwards is undeniably unethical, immoral and criminal!
I wanted to start the sentence with the word "unbelievable" but that would really be just that old "automatic response".
Simply. These guys are sick and the video shows that internally something is very very wrong with those that are supposed to protect the public. We can skip the "few bad apples" meme also.
A few good apples might be more accurate.
In my university days I remember when reading about World War II thinking how could those "inhumane" Germans do those things. Germans have no exclusivity in that department. Not an optimistic thought :-(
In the last few seconds: "Ha ha ha, I could have taken him by myself, ha ha ha."
Hey common, the cops didn't pepper spray or shoot the guy, use excessive force... They were just doing their job. The guy was driving like a drunk, or driving like someone using their cell phone.
I think the cops did err by not reading the guy his rights though. "You have the right to remain silent, anything you say may or can be be used against you"... Shit, that's the law of the land... Those cops should know that and receive remedial training.
"He said, ("please help me"),,,,, "He's resisting, "kick the mother fu##er again". .
Those cops can get a good payng job with Blackwater, taxpayers money too, if they should be fired from the police force, which isn't all that likely... Paid leave and re-training,,, dead guys can't sue us.
"When offin' the pigs 'n smashin' the state, keep a smile on your lips and a song in your heart." Phineas Freak
The accompanying article says the total paid to the victim and his family was $292,500. There is no mention of whether needed medical care was paid in addition to that amount. There is no mention of discipline, demotion or termination of the officers involved.
The cops' laughter and the comment "we did good" after learning the man was in diabetic shock shows a complete lack of awareness that their conduct violated the law. It shows they had no concerns about discipline of any kind...even knowing that a video recording was being made of the entire incident.
The solution to law-breaking by law enforcement is punishment. Zero tolerance. Demote them to dog catchers, cut their pay, and terminate and prosecute any who assaulted the victim. THAT will change future behavior. $292,500 of taxpayer money will not.
Law and disorder! A diabetic and they knew it! How about mandatory life sentences for these or their superiors if they sanctioned it?
Every officer involved after this evidence should have been terminated.
292,500, may not cover the medical bills.
the money settlement being to small ( that being said ) should come out of the salaries of the sick six not the tax payers of the state, otherwise it's a free ride
In the film "Food, Inc." we learn that because of the diet of fast food that so many people of this country have become addicted to, it is projected that something like 30% of children are supposed to develop diabetes. Maybe at McDonald's as part of your happy meal, they should include a little sticker you can put on yourself "Police: Please don't assault! Probable diabetic."
More likely this man was a type 1 diabetic in ketoacidosis. Type 1 is not related to diet; it's an autoimmune disease. Type 2 diabetes, McDonald diabetes, is less likely to cause these symptoms (unless they guy used too much insulin).
To watch these hyped up killers in action on murka's filthy mean streets gives me the shivers. This is of course the price any militarist culture has to pay at home when its "government" unleashes its war dogs with impunity around our brutalised planet. Things will get worse as more of these demobbed our troopian professional hitmen and the goodfella style black water mercenaries are absorbed into the security state that the rich have erected around the impoverished 99%.
But lets be totally honest, we have nobody to blame but our damn selves. The rest of humanity despises us and they are correct in doing so of course. Now we are all "indians".
Stop giving indians a bad name. The new republic is more cause-effect.
This is why I left the United Police States of America. This generation of Cops ENJOY hurting people. They get off on it. They pretend that the "Suspect" is resisting when the poor guy is clearly convulsing and in desperate need of medical attention. They almost always use unnecessary force shoving their knee between the shoulder blades when handcuffing. They should have been fired for shoving people's face into the gravel decades ago, but the departments turned a blind eye to it; so now they even do it on little old ladies.
This settlement is woefully inadequate, imho. The poor guy should get millions and these Cowboy cops should be beaten the same way they ruthlessly attacked this poor victim. What would have happened if their was no video proof available? Most cops turn off the camera or lose the video when they screw up this bad. The Rodney King Case taught them well. I'll bet this kind of torture and abuse on motorists in distress is pervasive in America, and we just don't know it because never get to see the videos.
