Hate Loses: Bring On the Sock Discounts
The joyful face of yesterday's California ruling
Could it be the tide is (excruciatingly slowly) turning? To wit: The historic ruling striking down California's Proposition 8, J.C Penney standing firm in support of Ellen DeGeneres as spokesperson despite her degenerate ways in the face of an attempted boycott by right-wing haters, and no less than Fox' Bill O'Reilly blasting it as a McCarthy-like "witch-hunt." Atypically, DeGeneres confronted on air the 'One Million Moms’ charge that Penney was "hopping on the 'pro-gay bandwagon' to undermine "traditional values." Typically, she was funny, laid-back and nice as can be about it.
"Being gay or pro-gay isn't a bandwagon. You don't get a free ride anywhere. There's no music…Occasionally we'll sing 'We Are Family.' But that's about it."

Show AllThese same one million moms who're teaching their children how to hate those different from themselves as much as they do, also went after Chaz Bono when he became a contestant on Dancing With The Stars. Happily they didn't win there either.
Even if those with Dancing, and Pennys take the stance they do because of the money Chaz and Ellen generate for them, at least something good is being done for that money. I say keep it up you one million moms. Show the world just how small minded and hate-filled your brand of religion is, and how really alone you are in your blind hatred of others.
It's sad that Penney hires any spokesperson at all, paying an already rich person unneeded megabucks.
The company pays its actual employees minimum wage and no benefits, keeps hours to under 33/week to avoid rules governing full-time employees and generally treats people like shit. I've seen employees open a can and spoon out the cold contents for lunch. That's how poor they are. J.C. Penney isn't generally despised like WalMart and Home Depot, but it should be.
So much hate in this country, and the politicians love it, they thrive on it. WTF?
You got that right.....But, I don't think it is the average citizen, I think that the Corporations and the Minions of the Political Campaigns that cause most of the hate that gets spewed...That and the Koch Bro.'s and Dick Army's funded Fleabaggers......
Ellen has it right .. we are all family. Wake up, stop fighting over petty crap and recognize who the real enemy is before it's too late.

Sounds like JCPenny figured out that Ms. D. will bring in the money and they obviously did their marketing research. Nothing more and nothing less. Please, can we agree to live in the real world here on CD? I have been here for over ten years and it is becoming rather disappointing to say the least.
In fact, this is great free advertising for the stores. Yeah, make it newsworthy and everyone on top gets even richer. Can someone please get a clue?
It's true that the bottom line is the bottom line in this story, but think for a moment about what that marketing research showed.... JCP was only concerned about JCP, but what they found out is that the American public finds Ellen DeGeneres appealing despite her being openly gay! That's progress. That's acceptance. That's good news. Let's take a moment to be happy with a small victory.
Like the first multiracial president? Not to be argumentative, because that isn't my style. I feel that this is part of the problem. Sort of like, would you rather get punched by someone who is smiling at you? I personally don't see the difference. And i personally never found the woman to be humorous. She bores the heck out of me, but that is me.
Plus as i said earlier, the 'news' is part of the ad campaign.
