Anonymous Takes Down FTC Online Security

Irony Not Dead Yet: In its latest high-profile attack, Anonymous brought down OnGuardOnline.gov, a cyber security site managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), to protest anti-piracy measures and the "corporate Internet." More on sites that their "allied armies of darkness" have (CBS, FBI) and, despite reports to the contrary, haven't (Sony, Facebook) hacked.
“[Don't] like it when your site is wiped off the internet, do you?”

Show AllThe real "irony" would be if the purpose of the onguardonline.gov site was to protest anti-piracy measures and the "corporate Internet" and Anonymous had hacked it. Which is how that paragraph reads.
This is all pretty garbled. Go for broke and use two paragraphs ..... This is an important piece of news/information.
Every day I see more and more evidence that Bill Gibson's (and others) 'cyberpunk' crapsack dystopia is here to stay.
Corrupt Governments controlled by shadowy Corporations? Check.
Corporate mercenary armies? Check.
Social control masquerading as mindless entertainment? Check.
Rampant narcissism and cosmetic body modification? Check.
Computer addiction? Check.
The establishment of an obscenely wealthy Elite overclass? Check.
The unrest and protest of the disenfranchised underclass? Check.
Corrupt, violent and Militarized Police? Ummm, lemme chat to OWS. They say 'CHECK!'
Unchecked environmental destruction and degradation for profit? Check.
Rampant computer espionage, sabotage and cyber-crime? Oh, Hell yes. Check.
Galenwainwright,
excellent post, thank you. careful though, some might accuse you of engaging in mindless negativity. lol....
...peace...
As a philosophical Cynic anarchist, my 'negativity' is anything but 'mindless'.
If you want 'mindless', try the Obama Brand(tm) 'Hope'. It's in the next aisle over...
Very well done. There is not much of Gibson's work I haven't read and he has become very obviously a prophet of the current and worsening dystopia.
"...To stay one step ahead of our adversaries, I have already sent this Congress legislation that will secure our country from the growing danger of cyber-threats."
excerpt from the president's speech, a day late and a dollar short. hacktivism is a consequence of unresponsive leaders who have no interest in advocating for the common man. the elites brought it down upon themselves. kudos to anonymous.
...peace...
Thanks...Anonymous makes me believe that there might be a Higher Power after all.
This is really funny! On the other hand, "We the People" are paying $Tens of Billions every year to maintain 16 or 18 Intelligence Agencies that can't even protect government agencies from being hacked.
.................This only serves to identify yet another another area where taxpayer money is grossly wasted.
like the FBI lookin for their guns.
Galenwainwright...thank you for helping me find my attitude. I knew I had questions on the tomt but couldn't voice. And negativity requires the use of more brain power than positivity because it requires the brain to consider solutions, bad though they may be.
