Mall Cops Protecting Us, But Don't Write Things Down or Walk "Nervously"

Since 9/11, private security forces have increasingly taken on the role of counter-terrorism at the malls of America - and at Minnesota's massive Mall of America - albeit with minimal training and even less skill. The results, especially for brown-skinned people, are less than encouraging.

Show AllAll people have to do is to stop playing the part of the helpless target in this fascist game. Boycott the Mall of America and see how fast these rent-a-cops get reined in. The only thing that Corporate Amerika cares about is money. Hitting them in their pockets is the only way to get their attention.
You said it, NC-Tom!! Hit em' where it hurts because that's all they understand.
no doubt about it.
I agree. We also would be doing all those rent-a-cops a favor. We would be saving them from future misery from obesity, diabetes and respiratory diseases after years of eating mall pizza and hot dogs while constantly breathing all the toxic fire retardants on the imported new clothing for sale in the stores that the gubmint doesn't check anymore.
Rent-a-cops get fat real easy.
Malls suck!
It kinda makes sense when you consider what the average USAn citizen was told to do about terror: just go shopping. Shopping is our patriotic, anti-terrorist duty!
All I'm hearing on ways to fix the economy, besides cutting aid for the elderly and poor, and cutting taxes even more for the wealthy, is getting money into the hands of the middle class so they can go shopping.
Or better yet, get out of suburbia and move to a walkable urban space where small independent family-owned businesses are still viable.
I agree. I hate to mall shop except when I absolutely have too. The other part I hate is the time to check out and then getting in and out of the Parking lots.
People need to wake up and defend their rights...self-appointed counter-terrorism "authorities", both public and private, are stripping Americans of their constitutional rights as they create as police-surveillance-security state that seems to do little more than expand the power of the state at the expense of our liberties and rights.
It's time to force the fascist "counter-terrorism authorities" to reform, be held accountable for the blatant abuse of our rights and to start following the Constitution.
Look up "fusion centers". They are real. And they do exactly what you just wrote about.

Since Malls are private property, you have no constitutional rights - or rather you do sort-of, but the mall owners are free to arrest you for trespassing if they don't like how you are exercising them. You can exercise you freedom of speech on the shoulder of the public freeway leading into the mall. No wait, probably not there either - pedestrians are prohibited on freeways. So, you can exercise your freedom of speech (or to organize a union) in a sealed, soundproof car on the public freeway (but not in the parking lot - that is private property too).
But if you get out of suburbia and its malls and freeways and go to the city with public sidewalks, public plazas, public parks, and even public transportation, you can organize with like-minded people and speak you mind - and even have an audience - since in the city, everyone is not in a sealed, single-occupant, soundproof car.
Get the idea of why I like cities?

Stop shopping. Mend buttons and tears in your clothes. Grow some of your own food. Opt out of commerce as much as you sensibly can.
Right on, Cleanearth!!
It comes down to "you get what you pay for". For some of those Security Personel, and no I won't call them cops or Police because they are. Some are "Want a be Police", others want to be paid A.Holes. The reality is there salaries are very low, maybe $7 - $10 per hour, and a security company charging a Mall upwards of $15 - 20 per hour, maybe more for that security person. Most don't work for the malls they work for a security company. I hate to sound cynical but you have the bottom of the barrel working these security jobs. So "What do people want for nothing?"
This has become a real problem. Here in the SF Bay area, Whole Foods have armed guards in both Oakland and San Francisco stores. They are in front of banks and in other places where they never were. It is sad. Of course, there is a lot of trash everywhere that never gets picked up - but you have to be humble to clean and maintain things. Any egotist can carry a gun and do nothing but create more problems and try to show that they have "power" even though they don't. I brought this up with local management at Whole Foods in Oakland and they guy said he would bring in up in meeting but nothing has changed. What does it say? Our thugs are ready to kill if necessary.

You're suggesting we boycott them because they made clothes for the Nazis seventy years ago? Should we stop buying Fords because of the connection that Henry Ford had with the Nazis, too? What other companies still exist that did business with the Nazis? Volkswagen? Mercedes Benz? This is ridiculous.
Haven't been to a mall for a long time. Why would I go there? I need to find someone with a sewing machine to patch my jeans. Wearing patches is honorable. Who needs Whole Foods? Bank at a Credit Union. Grow some food.
Detach yourself from the corporate system as much as possible.
Well if you want to shoot up the mall, you have to do the food court first. That's where these top cops will be, checking out the fifteen year old girls hanging out.
Gotta keep the fat sheep in line somehow, until shearing season
