Rape As Flat Tire
Just When You Thought It Couldn't Get Any Worse: Conservative legislators have passed almost 1,000 anti-choice measures this year. Kansas - where Gov. Sam Brownback vowed to create "a culture of life" - just passed a ban on insurance companies covering abortion except when a woman's life is at risk. And during the debate, one Rep. Pete DeGraaf argued that women should plan ahead in life for contingencies like rape, just like he plans ahead with a spare tire in his car. Yes: a spare tire.
"It has obviously been a good session. We have established a beachhead of protection for the developing unborn child." - Kathy Ostrowski of Kansans for Life.
