Devoutly To Be Wished

Today, the ninth anniversary of the day George Bush decided that the Geneva Conventions did not apply to "enemy combatants," two torture victims filed legal complaints asking that Swiss officials investigate Bush for war crimes. Bush is safe for now, having scrapped plans for a Switzerland visit. But activists say an indictment is waiting for him. The welcome message: "Be careful in your travel plans."
"The reach of the Convention Against Torture is wide - this case is prepared and will be waiting for him wherever he travels next. Torturers, even if they are former presidents of the United States, must be held to account and prosecuted. Impunity for Bush must end." - Katherine Gallagher, Center for Constitutional Rights.

Show AllDon't worry Georgie, your fellow war-criminal pals Obama and Pelosi gave you a de-facto pardon here in the Imperial Homeland. You, Cheney, the Banksters and the rest of the Corporate Mafia Oligarchy will not go to jail. Just don't go to Iceland or Europe
'America' has you covered, George.
Don't worry. Be happy.
And that include Mubarak Hussein Obama, Oops, I mean Barack Hussein Obama after his term in office.
He will go to Iceland and Europe. That picture is a picture of a man who is as stupid as he is arrogant. He has to go. He has to demonstrate to the planet the same song we have heard for the last ten years:
"I am the president of the USA. The power of the USA emanates from me. I carry it with me wherever I go. Want to mess with me? Bring it on."
"...whose frown, and wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command, Tell that its sculptor well those passions read which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed:"-----Shelly in 'Ozymandias'
"...Nothing beside remains, round the decay of that colossal wreck. Boundless and bare, the lone and level sands stretch far away."
Good point, and I hate to come over all Shellier-than-thou. Life's a Bysshe.
Something to look forward to, I guess...
Not at all. thank you.
I disagree ,the World can and will demand Justice for the War crimes committed by the Bush Gang. I would like to see him Hang just like Sadaam. Even though I think the Death Penalty is wrong in this case I beleive Bush should hang because he made sure that Sadaam was hung. As far as the rest of his Gang, I think they should spend the rest of their natural lives in Prison. We Americans are so arrogant ,but the World is a big place, and we have hurt many people all around the World, and they are pretty fucking tired of it.
We have our War Machine and our big bombs, but the World can, and will stop us from continuing to terrorize the Planet !
Many Americans are very against Bush and now Obama for their ignoring the Geneva Convention, No one is above the Law not even a former or sitting President of the U.S. We nolonger hold a respected status and we have fewrer and fewer friends, so it will take time but Justice will find it's way to that Monsters door and all of his little friends too..
While I largely agree and would like to think so, I don't think they will be held accountable. For example, Henry Kissinger is not only a free man, but he has a Nobel Peace Prize, a senior member of the CFR, and is praised by the Corporate Media Oligopoly and by both Ds and Rs alike.
When Belgium tried to prosecute Kissinger (under universal jurisdiction laws) 5 or so years ago, the Empire saw to it that charges were dropped. The same has happened for Israeli war criminals in the UK.
Cicero: "Freedom is participation in power."
Rummy, Shrublette and Condileeeeza keep bumping into this same barrier like stoned rats in pit and it just goes to show how deeply they snorted and continue to snort their own neo-conservative Unitary Theory of Wartime Executive Power propaganda. It is highly funny to see Duhhhbya hit this snag, but I'm sure it will be little reported inside his "Amurka."
It would be a great benefit to human-kind to arrest, try and convict all of the NWO fascists.
He is "nucular" armed. Please someone arrest this war criminal and his abettors.
I expect George's Swiss visit was also hoping to organise a reception and interrogation for Julian Assange.
Probably now have to send in bobble-head Obama or Witchypoo Clinton instead to dazzle the Swiss by a visiting 'dignitary'.
don't confuse Switzerland with Sweden.
Accountability is possibly the single most essential concept as the creation swings through adaptation balances that we tend to see as fragmented phenomena.
Whether or not courts succeed in holding these criminals accountable, humanity in witness of mother earth increasingly learns the prophetic dimension of accountability and moves to head off abuses - non-violently, en mass, slowly but surely.
Today's pig is tommorow's bacon.
junior is so uugly.
Once this was allowed, (voluntary or IN-voluntary) it's hard not to "just accept it" as "O.K.".
But it's NOT!
We Know It Too!
I Demand Accountability!
Everybody Should!
We will hunt you down. Bring it on?
The Spanish judge is not backing down on his investigation of the six lawyers who told Bush that torture is legal.
Bush and Cheney should have been impeached for crimes against the Constitution. The fact that she refused to consider it, makes Nancy Pelosi complicit in their crimes. The fact that Obama refuses to being them to justice (and is continuing some of their criminal activity) makes him complicit.
What about us. While Bushie and his boys were out there doing their business what happened to us. We went missing. Now of course its Obama's turn and we are still missing. Come on, soon we won't be a country with a military, rather, a military with a country..............
"soon"?
These kind of hypocracies continue to happen. Anybody remember Iran Contra? Reagan and his henchmen were caught red handed disobeying congress, selling weapon parts to an enemy, and importing illegal drugs to finance a terrorist group that they were denied by congress from supporting. Did Reagan face the music? Not on your life! The CIA was involved. Bill Casey, a friend of Reagan“s was the front man in the CIA. Just befor he was supposed to testify about his involvement, he was lobotomized for "brain cancer". It couldn“t have happened to a nicer guy. Still too bad that he was prevented from testifying. It would have brought down the presidency. Bush or Cheney will never face justice here on earth...
Many of these guys eventually get prosecuted. It often takes decades, and often the fall or partial dissolution of a bloc of power. But they do the kinds of things that people remember and despise decades later, things that many find beyond questions of forgiveness.
The power and the safety of these thugs relies on a population imagining that prosecution is unthinkable or impossible. That fantasy gets harder to maintain as more people think of it and more institutions venture to it.
A lot of Iraqis might have imagined that Saddam would never hang. The relative immunity of American gangsters to retribution has everything to do with the stability of that particular hegemony.
How stable does it feel to you-all?
He is looking more like Big Barb every day
