Decision Points: Shelving a Criminal's Memoir
There may never be true justice (How could there be?) for George
W. Bush's many war crimes, and it will seem of scant consequence to the
victims of his reign of terror, but when his memoir appears on store
shelves tomorrow (Nov. 9th) it would be nice if booksellers nationwide
would shelve such a work in its proper category. Our vote: Crime
Stories.
On Tuesday, November 9, George Bush’s memoir Decision Points comes out in bookstores around the country. Taking a cue from a movement in Britain that called for people to subversively move Tony Blair’s recently published memoir, A Journey, to the Crime section of bookstores, Waging Nonviolence is asking that in honor of the release of the Bush memoir, people reshelve Decision Points to the part of the bookstore where it really belongs: Crime. If you do decide to participate in this nonviolent act of subversion, please respond to our invitation, take a picture of your “mission accomplished,” and post a photo of your handiwork to our Facebook page.
In Bush’s upcoming memoir he defends several of the criminal policies that he implemented during his time in office, including the invasion of Iraq and the use of waterboarding.
As another fun act of subversion, back in April the Huffington Post asked readers to send in their new and improved Photoshopped Decision Points covers. The one above was my personal favorite.
Here’s your chance to voice your opinion on what you think about George Bush’s presidential recollections. Is it a crime, humor, horror, dark fantasy? Whatever your opinion, go out on Tuesday and put Bush in his right place.

Inside the covertly delivered caskets of each US serviceman or servicewoman.
Hand them out to people in lines for unemployment.
Use them to soak up oil spills.
Use them to prop open the doors of foreclosed homes, so homeless people can get in during winter nights to stay warm.
Use them as bricks to rebuild homes in New Orleans.
I'm sure any of you reading CD could come up with much better suggestions.
The reality is that Dubya's rag is required reading for Team Obama to assure that they are completing Dubya's unfinished work.
The book notes that Dubya's greatest regret was not privatizing Social Security. Obama has signalled that gutting Social Security and extending Dubya's tax cuts will be his next "victories".
Please provide a reference to President Obama's plans to "gut" social security.
And doesn't the president want to extend tax cuts to middle incomes and let it expire for the rich?
These don't seen like real comparisons to me
Yeah just like he "wanted" a public option. Google "cat food commission".
Obama is a spokesmodel for Empire, nothing more.
Build coffins for the million Iraqis and Pastuns he's murdered.
Soldiers could stuff them into vests and use them for body armor.
Is it a pop-up book?
A little weasel pops up with a gun and says "give me your money and your life!"
yes!
It's not bad enough that the SCOTUS illegally put this piece of crap in the highest office in the land. It's not bad enough that we had to put up with this childish, selfish, arrogant idiot for 8 years. It's not bad enough that he has and will continue to get away with things that would have gotten any other person either jail time or hung.
Now we have to put up with this piece of crap making money by BRAGGING how many times he broke the law, and we will have all kinds of IDIOTS buying this piece of garbage.
BTW, he also said that he was afraid that Cheney wouldn't be his friend if he didn't pardon Scooter Libby. Does that sound like a whining 5 year old to you, too?
This "man" should be taken out and lined up against a wall, along with the rest of his scummy, law breaking administration. The constitution calls for one crime and one punishment: Treason gets you a hanging. THAT is what Pelosi SHOULD have been aiming at, not protecting the worst, most illegal idiot we've ever had in the office.
Pelosi is also guilty of treason because she was an accessory after the fact when she said: " impeachment is off the table ". She is part of the fake opposition war party.By protecting Bush she was protecting her and her party.
I think the word you were looking for was, "complicit."
Complacent is an appropriate word, though. Shockingly, we really do have two parties right now. The La-Di-Da Complacency Party dedicated to compromise and a firm policy of see-no-evil in the face of... evil. On the other side we have the party of... well... evil. These guys, for their part, are dedicated to hardball who-cares-about-America-we-need-to-win partisan politics, torture, helping those who don't need help and generally making this country into a copy of Pinochet's Capitalist Paradise.
Being a good party-line democrat requires huge quantities of complacency. Bravo to Pelosi, Obama et al in their stupendous accomplishments in the field of putting their heads in the sand.
Remember the quaint old days when it was the villains who tortured prisoners?
I have NO disagreement with you there. I thought and still think that Pelosi should have been removed from office the SECOND that "off the table" was pronounced. It wasn't her call, the constitution DEMANDS it. She didn't have the right or the power to do such a thing, and should have been removed from office IMMEDIATELY.

The Bush autobiography is probably one of the few books in history that actually deserves to be thrown on a bonfire.
Yes, but ONLY BEFORE anyone has paid for them W shouldn't be allowed make a freaking PENNY on his treason, he should be swinging from a tree somewhere.
"he should be swinging from a tree somewhere"
From your own post re the death penalty(WJM November 9th, 2010 7:18 pm):"It's time we grew up, get over this right wing blood lust, and join the CIVILIZED world."
but I understand your impulse.
Wait, wait. Thanks to the Bushes and Cheneys and Obamas of this world (and look at the mass murderer's record in Texas!), we the Americans still have the ritual murder of human beings gleefully enforced. One thing likely to stop it is to give a taste of their own medicine to its most rabid practitioners.
If there was a section in the library for books written by criminally insane lunatics, that is where this book belongs!
That would be where most economics books are found...
So your familiar with Uncle Milton?
It would make good kindling in my stove. I hope he and the book burn in HELL!
He'd stink like burning bushit.
Now that he has admitted that he encouraged waterboarding, torture according to US and international law, when will the arrest take place?
Good list - to start with. Let us include Obomber and his henchmen; and maybe Clitnon too, and his henchmen.
pour a bucket of blood over the lot!
(I would not even wipe my ass with these pages)
Ordinary criminals cannot profit from their crimes by writing a book about their criminal activity. If we had a true democracy George W. Bush would be in prison and his book would never have been published.
He's in good company. Hitler wrote 'Mein Kampf' while in prison for treason and an attempted coup.
I do not understand how he is getting away with this ? They are investigating Tony Blair right now to see about charging him with War Crimes. I think if the U.K. is succesful then we might have a shot at getting him too.
Still where is the Justice Department ? Why is there not one honest guy with a set of B*^%s that will indict him. Screw Obama, he's not the Law ! He has already proven he has no power, he sold his Soul to the Devil. He doesn't care, he knows he has made history as the first Black President, he's cool, multi-zillionair, he and that wife of his ,that I can't stand, have all they ever wanted, and they can jet set around the world. Peices of sh*^t.
I love all the posts here !! Good job. Now we just need to get together and have him arrested. We could plea to the International community. They have already acknowledged the fact that many Americans are suffering from poverty, and are repressed, and opressed and need help. So lets organize across this great Nation, and start making noise, until they have no choice but to listen. People will be arrested, they may even be killed.."Four Dead in Ohio" sometimes we must sacrifice to win. I am not preaching violence at all, I just think that the goverment will fight us, until they realize we, are us, and they need to go.
BOYCOTT his book and encourage others to do the same. Why should we pay for more of his lies.

And while everyone is thinking about George Bush Jr. they should at the same time think about his clone/successor Barry Obama.
