Decision-Makers, Listen Up
A Chicago researcher will tell Congress today what many of us kinda already figured: most of the world's suicide terrorist attacks over the past 30 years stem not from religious fundamentalism, but from military occupation, usually ours. Robert Pape's six-year study found a big spike in Afghanistan bombings - 12 to 450, with deaths up by a third since Obama's surge.
"We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns... and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100% of the terrorist campaign."

Show AllAfghans-resist, defy and lash out against the American empire.
That is pretty much of a no-brainer.
The war on terrorism is one of the most evil frauds perpetrated on the American people. It is nothing other than a continuous greedy war for strategic power and profit that is not a war at all, but a manufactured pack of lies! America's foreign policy of murder and torture of so many innocent people around the world, makes us the #1 terrorist in the world.
"We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, ... and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100% of the terrorist campaign," Pape said in an interview last week on his findings.
Does anyone think that this very logical conclusion is going to affect policy in Afghanistan? It seems like a very simple solution to the "Global War on Terror"! Instead, the MIC wants to intensify our military presensce, especially in the southern provinces of Afghanistan, and Pakistan. I am so weary of this! I want my country back! I keep wondering, (why, I don't know), what the US would look like today if JFK, RFK, and MLK had not been "eliminated", and their voices of reason and peace had been what guided our country in these intervening years, instead of over-arching greed and military domination of world resources. Sigh. Sob. Sigh.
Why do people insist on their freedom? We don't here in America, why should they? You know, freedom isn't free. Thats why here in rightwing America we call it expensivedom. Its more accurate.
So many research studies through the years with valid findings that certain behaviors or policy choices lead to warlike behavior or to peaceful behavior.
Do we pay attention to our acquired knowledge and use it both personally and for predictions or assessments of behavioral consequences that will result if, for example, one is a victim or one is always treated with respect?
Do we need a research study to tell us that if the United States invades, occupies, and throttles a nation, and bombs the crap out of folks living there that there will be a reaction, such as suicide bombers when there is so little else one can do to protest the takeover of one's life and one's country?
Duh. Duh. Duh.
We know. Everybody knows really.
It's just that all that other stuff gets in the way ... such as greed, ego-trips, power-control addictions, etcetera, couched in terms that imply patriotism or national security or whatever.
Keep it up, human species, and your doom is written in the sands of time, and maybe not much more time at that.
Sorry to sound so gloomy, but reptilian-brain "thinking" on the part of far too many gets to me after a while.

from their point of view,
the more suicide attacks, the better for propaganda purposes.
granted that they don't even bother to try and justify their atrocities with pretexts, these days.
they have been resorting to pure brute-force muscle- flexing for maximum intimidation purposes.
Nothing could be more obvious.
Jesus what a dumb, brainwashed world we live in.
I didn't know our intelligent,caring peacemakers didn't know this.."Frankly, My Dear, they don't give a Damn".
They hate us for our Freedom Fries.
