Keeping It Truthy

Nation, America is at a crossroad. Truthiness is at an all-time low, with our citizens increasingly "shackled, imprisoned, entombed" by so-called "facts." A movement is abroad in this fine if leaning-into-Socialism land for Stephen Colbert to lead a "Restoring Truthiness Rally" at the Lincoln Memorial on 10/10/10, to save us. Spread the truthy word.
"What have we lost, America? Our way, our values, our guiding light, and possibly, if she doesn't turn up at the back door soon, our cat... Let's move out of the blinding glare of facts, knowledge and truth, and curl up together in the dark, cozy, and disturbingly moist comfort of truthiness."

****Many of your commentaries in here have been hilarious and for real on point.
Truthiness Knolleriness
"Whither goest thou, America? Whither goest thou, in thy shiny black car in the night?"
--Jack Kerouac
Remember the smoking rat Cadillac Cassidy and Kerouac delivered in the parking garage in Chicago? There's your answer.
Does that pic represent the Christian Crusades? Perhaps the 'Onward Christian Soldiers' hymn?

I know Colbert is telling me the truthiness, because just the sight of him, in all his resplendant armour, makes me just want to trustiness him.
I shared the "truthiness" on Facebook earlier.
I would love this up here, only problem is, that's also the date of the 350.org international work party day...
Abby Zimet,
thank you ...
...peace...

Maybe Stephen Hawkings BIG LIE will save the day.
Was dis da lie?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/haveyoursay/2010/09/did_god_create_the_universe.html
Listen up "tea-baggers"! Dis was my reply....:
I am with Stephen Hawkins. God did not create the universe. Man, or rather…. Adam thought he did and he was being such an arrogant putz, that Eve, and all of the other animals would not speak to him. He got very lonesome. He then put his hands together pointing to the sky, and he went inside himself and created a great ego for all others to worship.
Today, most , but not all of mankind has managed to remain stagnant in this belief and with that, they have managed to live in fear of a higher power. With this, their inflated egos, and their ignorance of the world around them ……with this attitude, and their “works”…..the world may not survive them, and their beliefs. Woe to the rest of us.
Heh heh heh! Ooo-whee! That made me chuckle...the absurdity of it all never ceases to amaze me. Truthily!

Keep in mind Jill that Colbert is a comedian first. He already pushes his networks and sponsors to the limit. Any more 'truthiness' would mean the cancellation of his show altogether. At least Colbert has done what no other politician or celebrity ever did to President Bush when he made a buffoon out of him at the Press Dinner in D.C. (you can see it on youtube) That act alone has cemented my respect for him for years to come.
I must agree with Jill. However, i was blown away by his press club talk back then. It was very gutsy. When interviewed afterwards, he said he didn't realize how it sounded. He just felt confident that he had good material.
On the other hand, he had the israeli embassador on his show, right after the flotilla was invaded and allowed the man to spin away.....
He also tore into Julian Assange and hardly gave him a chance to rebut.
I saw that interview, and referenced it a few times.
I got the feeling colbert wasn't sure how to go with him. He didn't know how to play it, and didn't know what to make of Assange.
Colbert/Maher in'12, yeah that's the ticket.
Colbert/Maher in'12: Yeah, that's the ticket...-
I love the idea. A little levity Colbert-style would be just the thing to get the awful taste out of our mouths left by Glenn Beck's attempt to be False Prophet Extraordinaire on the same day as MLK's "I Have a Dream speech."
I am a fan of Colbert. He is the greatest, BUT there is one line he still will not cross. He refuses to hold the troops responsible for their actions. Colbert has yet to recognize the fact that following orders is not a defense when innocent civilians are being killed. Colbert is a bit too truthy when it comes to the Nuremberg Principles.
Colbert has been infected with the "Phil Donahue" issue. Phil challenged the war and was immediately taken off air and his iconic career brought to an abrupt end.
rosemarie, next week he is doing a special tribute to our returning "heroes". Two parter!
I think he really doesn't get it, on a personal level. Although, i am a fan of the show.
Bring America Back !!!!
**Well I know we are supposed to get a belly full
of sarcasm out of Colberts shows, but most times it leaves me cold.
**Bill Maher is much more direct and theres no real
guessing when he does his routines. The Dailey Show is also very pointed and leaves no room for much
interpretation.
**Colbert's silliness takes away from whatever the intended commentary or overall point he makes.
But he's funny all the same, in a pratfall or
vaudeville kind of way. That's funny I think ! Or truthy ?
Geez, Mr. Colbert;
Where are the olive branches, aren't they supposed to be in the eagle's foot? Where is the eagle's foot? Oh, oh, you aren't holding any olive branches, just flaming arrows, going in 2 different directions. Does that mean confusion or that you've really got us covered?
But, you know what? I bet if you advertised your rally by tweaking it just a bit, "Truthiness is next to Godliness," that maybe you could get some of Mr. Beck's crowd back again, and have double the numbers attending!
