A Little Bit Of Fact
Last night Keith Olbermann and Jeremy Scahill offered the "thanks" to George Bush on Iraq that all these neo-con revisionists have been clamoring for. Scathing.
"These people want to post some kind of false flag of victory on the corpses of all who have died in Iraq because of their decisions... They shouldn't be able to leave their houses without being confronted with the death and destruction that their lies caused."

Show AllI saw the program last night and I can't agree more. well said!!!
"... (W. Bush, et al) shouldn't be able to leave their houses without being confronted with the death and destruction that their lies caused."
Hell, these criminals should be charged and convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Indeed, they shouldn't be allowed to leave their prison cells, except maybe to play house with very large men who would call them "Bitch."
Jeremy Scahill rocks...
I agree. I just watched that interview a second time and both Keith and Jeremy rocked...I think Jeremy is one of our best reporters.
I particularly loved Scahill's crack about how this week the nation is witnessing historical revisionism in action, in real time.
It certainly is no coincidence that within the 24 hour news cycle immediately following President Obama's brief Oval Office speech on Tuesday night, a neocon Greek chorus of cretins like Hadley, Kristol, Ari Fleischer, Doug Feith, and so many other Faux News favorites rose up, miraculously singing in unison about how Obama should have been gracious enough to thank George Bush for invading Iraq, gracious in the way that a President McCain surely would have praised Little George had the voters not turned on, and turned out, this cabal of self righteous right wing rogues in the November 2008 elections. I wonder who among the usual suspects drafted up and circulated the talking points.
Heaven forbid, left to their own devices, that the major mainstream media commentators should waken from their slumber but be left adrift, perhaps to venture into some timid inquiries about where the billions of missing Iraq reconstruction dollars went, or start tallying up in retrospect the actual cost in lives, treasure, and the international standing of the United States that has resulted from the Bush/Cheney regime's lies and hubris. Quickly, quickly boys, let us immediately reframe the public debate to focus instead upon whether the current President is lacking in graciousness for failing to properly thank Bush, Cheney, and their cohorts in crime for their courage, their wisdom, and their noble good intentions.
There. Spin that. Let's all chatter about that for a day or two, rather than talking about any of that other awkward, bloody and shameful stuff.
There. There you go. Mission accomplished.

These things typically originate from Uncle Karl's Ministry of Truth.
You make a good point, Jill. Obama made this decision when he refused to investigate Bush/Cheney et al after his election. The illusion many seem to live under is that Obama is significantly different than his predecessor. He is in the tone of his administration, but that's about it. While Bush was the decider, he is the deceiver. He is better at deceiving the people into thinking he is serving them, while he is really serving the same interests of 'empire' that GWB did.
I wonder if Obama will think again about going after G.W., and the others after November when the cons take over (thanks to the tea baggers and con justices) and go after him with guns blazing.
A rare opportunity for Scahill, a doggedly courageous journalist, to speak the truth on mainstream tv. Easily the best sequence on Olbermann this week.
I wish Mr. Olbermann would offer more serious news interpretions like that sequence and cut down on the tiresome 30 minutes of infotainment his bosses probably demand because such banality undercuts the relevance and standing of Olbermann's more sober presentations while keeping advertisers placated!
Alas, obscenely profitable ad revenues have always trumped the viewers's right to the truth since Edward R. Murrow said his last "goodbye and good luck" over 45 years ago.
Petty, petty, petty neocons; you have no grace, grace is a quality of goodness and you have none. Bushbaby deserves credit where credit is due; he is a genocidalist, white supremecist, thief, liar and destroyer of goodness.
I don't understand.
It was a victory.
They sold the 2 WARS to a country that knew was bullshit and did not stand up against it in revolt. This band of criminals DEMS AND REPUGs stole trillions for the "war" and gave it to their friends in the oil and war business. They destroyed our freedoms through their fear propaganda abck room measures and bills. They have managed to wipe out our schools and hospitals through the budget cuts due to lack of funds which they always seem to find for more war.
Please they have had their Victory. The proof is that you are in your seat and not in the streets demanding for Justice and a new Government that is not controlled by Banksters, Oil Gangsters, and greedy blood thirsty delusional war criminals.
We are all to blame for the lose of this country until we ALL stand up against this criminal Government.
I am still trying to figure how o is any different than w. Where w surged our troops o just adroitly, poorly at that, replaced 'combat troops' with high priced mercenaries who will most likely be allowed full to run freely through all of Iraq to quell any suspected uprisings from the local natives.
That indicates to me the w & dick & o are just the same only different paint and words to maintain the 'largest cia embassy' in the world and who knows how many still ILLEGAL military bases in Iraq.
Kudos to MSNBC and Keith Olbermann!
O is no different from W or J. Once they attain that "higher" office they are the pawns/property of the banksters and war industry. If they want their party to continue (in office) they pay the price with their souls for the money to continue to be funded by the devil. Oh they're allowed to stray a little over there or over there, but basically, they tow the line as far as Energy "policy" and "defense"...
In a just world, Feith, Fleitcher, Kristol, Bush, Cheney, Hadley, Wolfowitz, Yoo, Addington, et al would be shot on sight in the same way we shoot a hostage taker at Discovery Channel that has endangered far fewer lives. And tomorrow we would/should forget their names. But, that would be in a just world.
I believe that Bush and Cheney are the government officials who were behind the arrest of an Iraqi Physician who founded Help the needy in Iraq.Bush, Ashcroft, and Pataki's label of him as a terrorist prevented him from having a fair trial. The prosecutors lied, like all the government officials were lying about Iraq, and due to the climate of hatred against Iraq, Rafil Dhafir was given 22 years for helping save the lives of innocent Iraqis. What a travesty of justice.
I join Keith and Jeremy in their frustration of wanting justice for the innocent victims of the illegal war against Iraq,( troops and civilians). I call for the prosecution of Bush and Cheney for war crimes. I also call for amnesty for Muslim prisoners who were denied a fair trial.
and while you are at it, dont forget to thank Hitler for creating the State of Israel
I will be a proud American once more when the war criminals responsible for lying us into Iraq are arrested and tried for crimes against humanity.
I agree with you totally but don't hold your breath for 'justice' against the war criminals.
In a just world ...Bush will be confined to "the ranch", like Nixon was in S. Clemente, and die like Reagan did.
This could be "The Republican Curse".
I'd vote for it.
Obama is such a coward.
Wow! Such a thoughtful comment! And so relevant to the topic! I'm sure as hell convinced.
Here's another, similar gem: jbarret1 is such an ignorant Yahoo.
Let me guess tucsonlib, you're a liberal still clinging on (against insurmountable evidence) the delusional belief that Obama represents "real" change.
Actually, my comment is thoughtful. It comes from deep seeded anger over watching millions of people die and being dispossed over our country's actions; and Obama does not have the guts to end it and prosecute those who are responsible. As a matter of fact, he's expanded our sphere of death and destruction (Somalia, Yemen). And in Iraq, he's replaced the soldiers with mercenaries.
He's a coward for not standing up for Justice!!!
I, too, hope the wheels of justice grind over the war criminals and pulverize them. We can still IMPEACH THEM!
The difference I see is that O has not "lost" billion$, somewhere..., although he does maintain the status quo of Bush's war- and it is no doubt in my mind BUSH'S WAR.
I still see war2.0 as O's self preservation and his learning curve. I try to look at the trajectory. After all, he inherited it. We are all armchair dictators and could save the world if we ran it, could we? That's right, if I were in charge-UTOPIA! Oh yea, right.
O is saving the US public from the onslaught of unleashing the CIA on US soil. As if economic hit men weren't bad enough! (I say keep those F'rs over there!) What the heck are we going to do with all the war pigs and damaged soldiers when they come "home", HMMM? What are we doing now with the few that are trickling back? Giving them their local police and firemen jobs back? And we thought "going Postal" was bad with Vietnam Vets, HA!
Thanks BUSH for opening Pandora's Box. Even though I still believe the US Constitution took into account human nature and all its foibles. Regardless of O's and Hil's and Biden's shortfalls we still have gov't of by and for......you know the routine.
Reviewing blogs here, I doubt most of the posters would agree with you about 'still having a democracy - by and for the people.' I don't think we have a 'Government by and for the people' right now. We've been in danger of loosing nearly all democracy in this country for decades. I'm optimistic we can turn this tide around, but it will take enough of us calling out the abusers of our Constitutional rights and voting out anyone without, say, the integrity of a Dennis Kucinich or Ralph Nader (or at least who will work with them!). We'll no doubt go through more learning experiences before enough Americans wake up to facilitate this recovery of American principles. I think some of the Neocon/NeoLiberals have exposed themselves enough, and, along with the economic collapses going on, this will hopefully open the door for people to question what is going on more, and begin to look for 'a better way.'
Hi Commentarian,
As long as the basic infra-structure is in place I feel the US Constitution is the "controlling legal authority" (sounds vice-presidential doesn't it?) over my civil life and the citizens of the US republic. Gore Vidal does not even call this a democracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYFobCTg7lw
True our system is perverted and you need money to access legal justice, but it is better than no justice at all.
I don't post to conform with the bloggers on this site, though I may agree with them in many ways. I post to express my views. (and I do read and learn) One of those views is, at this point in time, there will be no other "winner' of elections other than from the two major parties, Republican or Democrat. So, as you imply, I will vote for my interest and encourage others to be informed and vote their interests. My interest does lean in the direction of Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, McKinney, Sheehan, I can even go for Al Sharpton! But unless they are running for President, I can't vote for those particular individuals. Their problem is they cannot win (beyond their localities), thus they cannot govern.
I feel if the bloggers here remain stubborn and allow the Republicans to win the next round of elections by not voting Democrat, we will fall deeper into that ditch and further from that better way.
Nice bloggin' wit' ya
This is the best piece I've seen on the topic, and I've written a few myself.
Brilliant- I'm amazed that this squeaked through the MSM's usual censorship filters.
THANK YOU, JEREMY!!
THANK YOU, KEITH!!
Keep it up.
We need to see WAY more of this kind of truth telling.
Blair writes that Bush was "very smart" while having "immense simplicity in how he saw the world."
In other words, 'Bush is simple minded'!
Tony Blair must be the only non-American public figure to actually claim that Bush was "intelligent": everybody else publicly or privately quickly realized that Bush was an extraordinary moron. If Bush was/is intelligent, then everybody and anybody can be intelligent. Even Tony Blair.
Meanwhile across the pond, Radio Free Iraq (an inbred cousin of NPR and PRI) carries the headline today,
"A Delegation of Leading U.S. Companies Preparing to Visit Iraq".
excerpts include,
"The news agency Reuters, Francisco Sanchez, Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce as saying that "bilateral relations between the United States and Iraq is entering a new phase of the link trade. And partnership in rebuilding the Iraqi economy."
"To that announced the U.S. Department of Commerce were among the companies chosen to visit Iraq: Bowing, General Electric, and ordered the International, and the United States to transport goods, and Bell Helicopter Tekestron, Bond and building regulations, and a Ted Jacob Engineering, and Nokia Global Architecture.
In the opinion of the President of the Federation of Iraqi businessmen on behalf of the Creative Commons Peter the attendance of the number of representatives of U.S. firms sign of the seriousness of U.S. investors to work in various fields in Iraq."

LOL!! Look at this also from the iraqhurr.org website. Remember what Giuliani told New Yorkers to do after 9/11? This is how we conquer.

"Do you consider shopping at the end of the month of Ramadan is part of a traditional practice?"
"No, shopping is important."
"Yes, to buy some gifts for family members."
"Yes, to buy new clothes for children only."
"Yes, to buy food to celebrate the holiday."
"Yes, to buy other things such as books, for example."

...peace...
*iowablackbird* "we - the american public - need to surround these people's homes/compounds 24/7 until they're tried and incarcerated." You mean Bush is still here? I thought he was headed to Paraguay after O took over. Damned rumors.
