"I'm An American, I'm A Muslim"
A grassroots coalition of Muslim Americans has released "My Faith, My Voice," a PSA aimed at counteracting the rising hysteria around New York's community center. The ad is well done, but how sad they have to work so hard to assure us they're okay and "don't want to take over this country."
"I am here and have been here for generations wanting the same thing you do: the chance to pursue life, liberty, peace and happiness."

Show AllWOW, I thought that only Glen Beck {white}Christians love America.
Some Muslims who pre-screened felt is was not confrontional enough.
Some felt the dialogue " How dare anyone take my constitutional rights as a citizen and disregard my love of this country because I am a Muslim." would be better.
Of course they don't want to take over the country....then they'd get blamed for that too!
Are you sure? Maybe some will view it as a rescue attempt.
A total waste of money and time.

I remember when the Onion used to do sarcasm, not report reality.
bluepilgrim, I think I must learn to make my point using fewer words like you have here.
Unforunately "actually", the Onion is becoming less and less funny for me, because there's not enough of a shock value or not enough of a distinction from reality in some of their stories. I know how hard it must be for them to come up with stuff that is even more insane than the prevailing insanity, Anyway, the same title could have been used for a story on climate change as well:
"Man Already Knows Everything He Needs To Know About Climate Change".
The line between reality and satire continues to blur... if only because reality keeps getting crazier.
Another one that is just dead on:

When we have big unemployment, home foreclosures and a President of color we find some to scapegoat.

Americans are told that U.S. troops are trying to win the hearts and minds of Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq. The people who are protesting , what they call a "Ground Zero Mosque", out of sensitivity for the victims of the 9-11 attack are undermining the work of the troops. While our soldiers are in harms way proclaiming to be protecting the Muslim, Afghans and Iraqis who want peace, Americans at home are expressing bitterness and resentment of U.S. peaceful Muslims.
I admire the American Muslims in the video and I wish them success and peace.
Do not allow yourselves to be stirred into civil war.
In so far as the rest of the world is concerned you are simply : Americans. Whether you be black or white or coloured, of this or that political Party or religion.
America is known only by her actions. Only those actions committed external to America are of any interest to those who are not Americans.... You will suffer if you keep hating each other - for BEING Americans!! Sounds silly to do that?

"I'm An American, I'm A Muslim, I'm a little teapot"
Being American won't help in the US of Racisim....didnt help the African Americans, didnt help the Japanese Americans, wont help the Muslim Americans.
Unless you are white, christian, fat and dumb as a rock, you dont belong
The original YouTube video of this

is filled with loving, supportive comments. And also it only has about 12,000 views.
Keep checking back and watch the hatred and ignorance swell as the video spreads beyond those of us in "the choir".
Why is it that CD'ers are so enamoured with Muslim religionists and so hateful of Christian and Jewish ones who share more than 75% of faith and practice? Islam and Christianity are both evangelistic and proselytizing (look up the real definitions of these words), all have histories of certain bad actors, and none claim human perfection.
Could it be...?
I'm certainly not enamored with any religion. I think it's all nonsense.
I know my personal knee jerk response is to have sympathy for oppressed minorities and skepticism of powerful majorities. That doesn't mean minorities are always "good" or majorities are always "bad" or that the knee jerk response survives a closer look- but that's the initial lens.
I don't "hate" Christians or Jews, and I'm guessing most on these boards don't either, but I think the dynamic you've noticed is based on power and the use of it, not necessarily the specifics of one belief system. I "support" Muslims in the US because they are an oppressed minority here, today.
"the chance to pursue life, liberty, peace and happiness." taking more than 25% of the world's resources for 5% of it's population.....
