Wal-Mart: Life, Liberty, The Pursuit of Freedom to Allow Mobs to Trample Your Employees to Death
The scene outside Wal-Mart after the death of Jdimytai Damour
The no doubt illustrious lawyers for Wal-Mart are in court this week to continue their battle against OSHA telling them what they can and cannot do - including allowing frenzied shoppers to stampede their employees to death - having already spent a year and two million dollars fighting a $7,000 fine on the issue. Jdimytai Damour was trampled to death by a 2,000-strong post-Thanksgiving, bargain-hunting mob in 2008. Wal-Mart says it shouldn't be held accountable for safety standards - like not having workers stampeded to death - that would cut into sales promotions of the latest plastic gimcracks made in sweatshops in China. These guys are truly princes of industry.
"The government is improperly trying to define ‘crowd trampling' as an occupational hazard that retailers must take action to prevent." - Wal-Mart.

Show AllThe guy on the phone looks like Uncle Dickie. Terrorist!
Someone should trample the Waltons to death. Maybe their employees?
The modern day Robber Barons of American Retail.
This is the kind of thing that makes me wish that I DID shop at WalMart - So I could STOP. Sam would be disgusted by what his chain has turned his family into. What a complete waste of human life.
So rather than pay a measly $7,000, which is a pathetic amount in itself, they have spent millions. Their actions are just completely despicable.
It's not bad enough that WalMart has been largely responsible for the destruction of the retail manufacturing sector in this country, or that they bring in products that poison and sicken American citizens, now they want to have the right to completely ignore EVERY regulation that keeps us from being the largest country in the third world? Every regulation that keeps workers safe? Every regulation that makes them SEEM like a humane company?
Screw 'em. Close them down. The country will find other places to waste it's money on cheap Chinese crap that will poison them soon enough. We don't need to keep rewarding these SCUM for destroying the country and trying to kill us all off just for working for their greedy, selfish asses. Sam's family can run the stores BY THEMSELVES, and let THEM be the ones who get trampled. Then they can take all the profits and choke on them.
To hell with WalMart.
I wonder if they docked the employees paycheck for laying down on the job?
Happy Thanksgiving and here come the brainwashed consumers through the doors!
'WalMart's' represents 'freedom'. You know, what so many want to have in their country. Free enterprise.
PIGS.
It is not as if a real American was trampled to death at Wal-Mart. For god’s sake it was only Jdimytai Damour.
I guess I should not be, but I am surprised at Wal-Mart's stupidity, if not its heartlessness.
Wal-Mart, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND LIVE BETTER!
I fault the management of this particular Wal*Mart store for not having implemented better crowd control policies that could've prevented this tragic death from happening, as well as the childish averice and greed of many average, ordinary people.
What management could've and should've done was to implement a first-come, first-served policy, in which only people who got to the store very early would be issued a certain token or tag, and let only those people with the tags or token into the store.
