Activist Loses Eye
An American activist lost an eye and sustained head injuries after being shot in the face with a tear gas canister while demonstrating in the West Bank against Israel's attack on the Gaza aid flotilla. Israeli troops fired the canister at close range at Emily Henochowicz, a 21-year-old art student in New York.
"They clearly saw us," said Sören Johanssen of the International Solidarity Movement. "They clearly saw that we were internationals and it really looked as though they were trying to hit us. They fired many canisters at us in rapid succession."

The U.S. empire is teetering and any number of economic blows right now could bring the EU and US economies down. When the U.S. economy falls, Israel gets more vulnerable. To those who have television, please report regarding about how much airtime this gets on any of the corporate stations here in the US.
Of course we did have candidates who were against the military aggressions of the US and Israel, but they were all censored.
It's time the people realize both sides of network television agree about certain things, and to paint one side as being right-wing, and the other as left-wing, is ridiculous. Both are right-wing, just to varying degrees.
It's time we elect people who reflect our views and concerns, and not compromise. In the meantime, I think we should try to inform as many others as possible about stories like this the mainstream will undoubtedly hide or distort.
Whoever shot this canister at this innocent woman should be filled with remorse and shame.

Maybe more so. Over the weekend, the talk was of the best beers, favorite wines and cheeses, sports, movies, clothes. The young women all went out for manicures and pedicures, then dressed like sluts for the festive occasion. The women discussed their new furniture and new combos in the new planter boxes on the new decks by the hot tubs. The guys told war, race, women jokes and laughed real loud through the smoke of fat stogies. All got roaring drunk on the best tequila money can buy and iced beer delivered in kegs. I left. What's wrong with me?

while one of them was listing all of the things he (we) would miss if we powered down our world, they were all able to understand and discuss why we need to do so, and two of them, at least, were willing to say they'd make the sacrifices, and enthusiastically...

I quit 15 years ago, never had a social drink the whole time. I/we drank to get drunk nightly, extra on weekends lacking the time constraints. Never missed it or was tempted to start again. I like to smoke, but moved and can't connect.

I work with a bright woman of 42. She watches tv, Hannity, O'wrongly, and such, but has a warm heart and cares. When the pirate raid came up, I told her the miserable story and said, "Let me guess, the hooligan activists invaded Israel's territory and provoked a fight. The Israeli commandos defended themselves and barely escaped with their lives."

By protesting Israel's humanitarian intervention of the terrorist flotilla in international waters, Emily Henochowicz didn't just deserve to have one eye blown out, but both her eyes!
Anyone who denies or discredits Israel's dedicated devotion to human rights and civil liberties should be shot on sight.

The fact that US M$M isn't reporting this act and that Israel has confiscated a US vessel and is imprisoning Americans shows the M$M doesn't even support Americans when attacked by Israel.

National Petroleum Radio (NPR) is reporting this morning that 60% of Israelis are against Ehud Barak's use of the commandos but the government of Israel says it will use the same tactic to prevent another attempt to run the blockade. There are other ships preparing to do so in coming weeks. I don't know if there are any Turkish ships among them. Turkey has said it will militarily escort any Turkish vessels participating in running the blockade through international waters.
Turkey is a NATO member. If Israel attacks Turkey and Turkey invokes NATO's mutual defense obligations things could get mighty difficult for the U.S. If the U.S. and/or other EU NATO members refuse to defend Turkey, then that sends a message to the eastern NATO countries that NATO won't REALLY defend them against Russia if the political or military logistical costs are too high: That some countries under the "NATO defense umbrella" are more equal than others. This could complicate matters from Ukraine to Istanbul, including proposed pipeline routes that run from Central Asia (filled with former Soviet Republics--some more friendly to Russia than others) into Turkey. It could also split southern EU countries against northern EU countries because the Northern EU States are historically more antithetical to Israel whereas the southern EU nations are more wary of Turkey for its geographical position as a way station for the influx of Muslims into the southern EU.
Policy makers have to start tallying the disadvantages and costs of cuddling up to pariah State Israel versus medium- and long-term real politik. Israel suddenly doesn't look like it's worth all the aggravation it foments versus the lack of real benefits it brings to the U.S. or anywhere else--except for coercive police state "non-lethal, crowd control" technologies it tests in the Occupied Territories on unarmed civilians and then sells to the U.S. and other countries to use on their own citizens.
