With credit-card donations pouring in to relief organizations bringing
aid to Haiti, banks and credit organizations stand to reap huge profits
through the 3 percent "transaction fees" most charge, says a Huffpost
report. Historically, only Capital One waived those fees in the case of
disaster; today, responding to criticism, American Express and Visa did
likewise for a limited time.
